  • Things Aren't Looking Too Great for Evans

I think most were hoping for a quick recovery but things seem to be getting worse rather than better for Evans right now.

Still, perfect health is not on the horizon. Forward Reggie Evans, who has not played all year because of a mid-foot sprain, will be traveling with the team for games in Charlotte and Boston on Wednesday and Friday. But that is not necessarily happy news.

"I believe he's going to go on this trip and see one of the [foot] specialists," head coach Jay Triano said.

Ten days ago, Evans sounded hopeful that he would be back on the floor this week. Now there is no timetable for his return.
Thank goodness we have Amir. Phew

Evans' injury is starting to resemble the career ending injury Eric Montross suffered (which was due a small broken bone in his foot, which was caused by him tripping over a baby gate).

The sad thing is that big fatso that fell on his leg Mike Sweetney was released prior to the begining of the season.

What a blow, if his leg doesn't start healing soon it may be a season ending surgery.

      The Garbo curse lives on.

Doug Smith says surgery isn't even being considered right now, to there's that I guess.

I can see why they're taking their time with Evans. You don't want to rush him back too soon and have him re-aggravate his foot. I don't think it's a case that he's getting worse, it's one where he's just very slowly getting better.

And did you see how obese he was? There was no excuse for Sweetney to be playing considering the depth the Celts have. Eventhough it was only preseason.

The more Amir Johnson gets to player ... the better the Raptors are.

Reggie Evans' return will be a negative if he takes away Amir's court time.

Dave's pile of hated players: Bargnani, Evans....that's all I got so far but I'm sure there are others.

I don't see Evans taking away Johnson's court time as much as I see it taking away Bargnani's. Johnson will be eased back a couple too but the career-high 34 Bargnani's playing this year is too much, he should be around 30 or so like last year.

That would be an interesting move. I'd like to see that happen. That could possibly improve the Raptors.

Not definitely though, as much as I love Reggie's rebounding, he really is very bad on both ends of the court. Still, it might create a little better mix for the Raptors as a collective versus what Bargnani brings to the table.

I don't think the minutes distribution will happen like that though. Unfortunately. Bargnani was playing 35 minutes a game for the final 50 games last season. What he's playing so far this season is in line with that. I don't see that changing.

Amir is all hustle, and he's filling the need for "energy off the bench" but he isn't a pure banger the same way Evans is. However, even when Evans comes back he's not going to make a MAJOR difference.

I wish him a speedy recovery but my expectations remain realistic for what he brings to the table upon his return.

Reggie was GOLD in the two preseason games he played. He got EVERY rebound possible and was a force in the middle.

The main two reasons we are below 500 at this point.

Amir is doing well but is more finesse.

It's hard to believe a player that is about to have his career end is jumping around on the bench during games.

I don't see Bargs getting below 32 minutes a night. The only thing holding back his offense is the continuing Jose/Bosh love affair.

I like that Amir has gotten a chance to play because of Evans injury. He would have been buried behind 2 solid veterans. The more he plays, the better he's playing. Johnson can be part of the Raps future - even part of the present.

There is a good case to trade Evans now based on Amir's play.

I fully agree! I think we'd have beaten Memphis and Phoenix had we had Evans in the rotation.

Completely agree. Evans is "tough" but more Amir PT will WIN you more games.
