Developing talent and building a winning culture. Isn't that what we all wanted out of a coach? Nah, let's just can him and hope someone else magically makes the team even better. It's not like their success has anything to do with coaching anyway...
It has a lot to do with coaching, assistant coaching, as in the new assistant coaches that Masai forced on Casey this year are why Casey finally doesn't look like shit.

More good than bad? Sure. Is that good enough to be the head coach? Fuck no. The amount of "bad" Casey does is enough to never be a championship head coach, which is what we should be looking for. If you wanna contend for a title in 2016 you better hope Casey isn't our head coach.

The fact Casey heavily relies on Nurse to design the offensive sets shows just how ill equipped to be a head coach he really is. Defense is more of an assistant coaches role. You need a head coach who can draw up plays and out think the other coach. Casey isn't that guy.

Short of beating Miami, Casey isn't getting rehired.
Simple response...Tex Winter, triangle offence, Phil Jackson.

They don't have a contending product on the floor, so no top tier coach is coming here anytime soon. This team has already overachieved, why does Casey have to coach them to a huge upset over Miami just to keep his job?

I say roll with this coaching staff (they seem to work well together) until a big name coach wants to come, which will only happen when the team is close to contending (ie 2016, fingers crossed). Or maybe this staff will keep improving, who knows

Phil Jackson hired Winter. He recognized the genius is what he was doing and hired him, while simultaneously becoming a devotee of the triangle offense (Phil is a master of the triangle himself). That's the sign of a good head coach. Casey is clueless.

Toronto is very young and has multiple draft picks. It wouilkd be a shamne too lket it go to waste on a bad coach. The longer MU waits the harder it is to get rid of Casey. Hollins is a good comparison, Memphis looks better after firing him.Without injuries they could have challenged the Spurs and Clippers for top seed.

How can you possibly say that with confidence? All we know is that nurse draws offensive plays for them sometimes. We only see a fraction of the coaching that takes place. They all play a part

as much as I hate certain decisions Casey makes. The chemistry with the coach & the team is a thing to think about. Its not just players chemistry, its players buying into what the coach is selling. Its a coach that knows how to talk to / treat players & get the most out of them. If casey could fix some of his substitution issues & giving the ball more to the hot hand (the bigs in this series vs brooklyn), he would be a perfect coach in my eyes. He is a defense first guy, and as bad as we look at times, overall, we are a very very good defensive team.

at the end of the day the results are there. And I wouldn't make a major change (coach) to such a young team with great chemistry at this point in the game. They are putting out the best season in raptors history, I think you'd have to be crazy to take a chance & move onto a new head coach right now.

NOW. on that same note. I think they should only extend casey 2-3 years max. Because there are signs there that this MAY not be the right guy for the job long term & you don't want to hand out a longterm deal you might regret a year or 2 from now.

Umm...no he didn't. Winter was hired years before Jackson got to Chicago (*2 before Jackson was hired as an assistant, 4 before Jackson was made head coach). And why did Jackson fall in love with the triangle? Because it's a system that limits the need to micromanage xs and os. And Phil only became a "master" of the triangle because he had years and years of Tex implementing it for him and learning it...Tex was his triangle specialist assistant for about 20 years.

Wouldn't it make more sense to put a competent head coach in place now, so that when we're ready to contend we're doing it with a coach who has been here a few years and still has a few years left on his deal?

It's painfully obvious Casey will never be a championship level head coach. His contract is up. Time to go our separate ways.

Wrong again. Winters was hired by Jerry Krause, the GM. They had a long relationship from their K State days.
If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.

They went to the WEST finals last year, they were even solid with rudy gay on their team. Hollins knew how to run that team. They only look good now because their team is gritty defensive team and that is what wins in the playoffs

If Masai is confident he's found a coach that is elite and that's willing to come here for the long run, then sure. But Casey isn't bad for the time being, IMO . It's hard to find a top tier coach that isn't a big name guy that will only go to contending teams
