Sorry, I don't see how Ross is in the top 8. He went from seesaw season to bad Summer league to mediocre pre-season. He's been outworked by Acy. Heck sans bad dunk Stone was giving more than Ross to the game with his D and play making. I just don't see it.

To me the bench is Psycho T, then Fields, then Buycks --Augustine pretty close, and last rotation player being the new 3 point specialist.

      • Lol. Come on people. I know you're all down with Ross and i get it. But saying he shouldn't be in the rotation is crazy.

Ross is the 6th man on this team, hate him or not. He's going to be this year's Alan Anderson. And i bet that's how Casey would use him.

I think the Raps are going to have a 9-10 man rotation:

        Ross - 6th man
        Hansbrough - Energy big
        Augustine - Backup PG
        Fields - Energy guy/defensive specialist
        Novak - 3pt specialist
        Stone - Backup PG/Defensive specialist
        Mamba Mentality

What are you talking about? No one hates Ross -- we all hope he improves. But the man isn't good enough. He doesn't put it together. If the goal is to lose then maybe he's the 6th man. Fields can defend players 1-4, probably the smartest bball player on this team. Psycho T puts in work. Both Buycks and Augustine can play spot minutes at the 2 and don't take plays off. Novak scores 3s well above league wide percentages...What does Ross do better than any of those important roles? Dunk?

Enough Already! Look at the quality of him playing basketball and stop judging players on how they look jumping up and down. When Ross earns the 6th spot I'll be the first to acknowledge it, but he hasn't. All your proclamations that he has are silly. The man needs to put in work, stop taking plays off, be more active on defense and seek the ball rather than wait for it. He needs to take a more active responsibility of the second team vocally and physically. He's no longer a rook, it will be his choice whether he grows or is traded.

Based on hard work and merit, I think you're right about Ross not being in the top 8.

But we can't ignore the fact that this franchise used a lotto pick to land Ross. Even though it was the previous regime that did it, Ujiri knows full well that you can't cast aside lotto picks this early in their careers. As a result, Ross will likely be given extra minutes (ahead of guys like Acy, Buycks and Stone) whether he "deserves" it or not.

            • Talk of an "8 man rotation" is pretty irrelevant. At what point in the past two years have we seen Casey do anything other than put 5 benchwarmers on the floor for significant stretches. I've never understood this, but he seems attached to the idea of a "second unit" being a complete 5 man unit.

True, but different GM, Ross is not Masai's pick. Buycks and Stone are end of bench guys that are. If they are better they'll get a fair chance to usurp Ross.

At what point in the last 2 years has Casey not had BCo breathing down his neck? winning teams rarely go more than 9 deep. I guess we will learn quickly what the Raps actually think about getting into the playoffs if they go 12 deep like they have been in the regular season then expect some trades.

What? People hate TRoss? I don't. There's a lot there -- hopefully he matures and reaches his potential (which is very very high). I'm just trying to look at things objectively with the information available. Hopefully I'm wrong, he's killing it in practice and holding back during these irrelevant games, but his interviews and the way he talks about defense -- when he still hasn't cleaned that side of things up -- suggests that he hasn't.

There's a difference between hating and analyzing things and coming to a negative conclusion.

who 'hates' Ross? You can think he might not become the player you want him to be, but to hate him? Has he been lazy? apathetic? faking injuries? Demanding the ball?

Not saying I hate him, or anyone on this board hates him.. but it would be inaccurate to say NOBODY hates him. People will always have their reasons, however illogical they may be.

                      • There seems to be many definitions of hate that get thrown around interchangeably:

                        1. Dislike his game, indifference about him as a person
                        2. Dislike his game, and dislike his persona off the court
                        3. Dislike his game, and would punch him in the face and steal his wallet if met in real life

I suspect, most fall into sub-group #1 when accused of "hating" a player.

I agree, but I think it goes even further:

                          4. Dislike his game and/or his performance/salary ratio, like him as a person

I don't get the notion that just because you're a fan of a TEAM, that you magically become a 'hater' for pointing out the flaws or deficiencies or areas that need improvement of a particular PLAYER on the roster.
