    I know, I know.
    It's horrible, these early-season threads.
But this is what happens when you make me work Sundays.
    I apologize.

You can (must) keep 3 players on this team, moving forward as a GM.
Everyone else is to be traded, and assume that you will fetch a fair value for them (i.e. You are not discarding them for nothing).
    Who are your guys?

    JV
    Fields
    Amir

I actually really like Fields as a starter with the right pieces around him, and Amir would be my first big off the bench.
Asking myself this question made me realize how I really feel about this team.
I like certain players I guess, like you like a family member, but I would rather have someone else in their place.

I get the feeling that playing on all of these wretched teams is making Amir look better than he actually is. I say sell high.

I thought about T-Ross, but his often-shitty body language rings alarm bells.

I'm going with Acy. I think he has the chance to be one of those legendary-cult status-impact bench guys. I'm talking about taking it out and chopping it up. Is there any reason that he couldn't be the next JYD? Maybe he doesn't quite have JYD's energy or strength - but he has extra dimensions offensively, handling and shooting the ball...

I'm all for giving him a chance and gambling that he hits his ceiling.

      Fine choice.
I - as you, it seems - chose a 3rd guy more out of necessity than anything.
Maybe better to gamble, but I like what Amir brings.
With this Raptors team, I find myself appreciating any player that really knows what their role is.

JV. DeRozan. Amir. Nothing a good young point guard and a veteran PF can't fix.

            JV
            Derozan
            Amir
            Fields

In a pinch, let Derozan go because of what he could bring back. But sometimes I think it is a good idea to reward good players for their loyalty and work ethic while recognizing their value.

Gah, you beat me to it. I have pretty much the exact same opinion. Here's my breakdown...

I don't like this thread. There are 4 guys I'd like to keep regardless of this thread's premise, and they've all already been mentioned: Fields, Jonas, DeMar and Amir.

Jonas reasons are obvious. Young guy with really high potential at most difficult position to competently (and cost-effectively) fill.

Landry and Amir are just great role players. If Fields' shot ever corrects itself, he's easily one of the best glue-wings in the league. That's how I felt before the signing too. Money is still ridiculous considering BC probably could've offered half that and still signed him. But there really aren't that many role-player wings who can be such complete players. Many of them are often specialists, and even as 3 and D guys, totally useless at other things like handling, distributing, rebounding, etc...

Amir is Amir. We know what he brings. He's also a very good role player, and even if they get a PF upgrade, he slides very comfortably back into a 3rd big role. That's why I like him and Landry. They fit in ANYWHERE you want to put them.

DeMar has taken yet another step forward. He's definitely developing as I'd hoped, at least in terms of skills, if not pace. His shot, and even his D, have looked better this year. His handle is tighter. He isn't forcing his game as much.

Mostly, I also like the approach and attitude of all these guys. Hard workers. Good teammates on and off the court. They set the right example pretty much at all times. To me, this makes them the best pieces to build around.

I can't say the same about Rudy and Kyle. Both those guys do not make the most of their abilities, and mostly because they refuse to play the right way. They do not set the right example at all times, especially on the court.

And if I had to trade one, I have 2 opinions.
-The first is agreeing with you, and if I'm trading for best return, it's likely DeMar who goes.
-The second is if Landry never corrects his jumper, and I can get fair value for him while he's making 6 million, I might have to trade him because he probably shouldn't have such value.

                I dunno about DeMar.
I wanted to write his name, I really did.
                He's my favourite Raptor.
But I couldn't bring myself to do it.

I'm rooting for the kid, I like to watch him play, and I love his attitude.
But I don't want him on my team (my fantasy-build-a-contender team).

He's improved a ton this offseason, and I expect him to improve more, but I think there's something that will always be missing.
I don't think I would ever be able to trust DeMar to take care of the ball, and make the right decisions on a big stage.

I think that's what it really comes down to for me.
                Basketball IQ. Playing in control.
I want players that get beaten by the opposition - not their decisions.

Sorry to break the rules as well but I'd only keep two:

                    JV
                    Hansborough

JV, well, pretty much self explanatory.
Hansborough, he is the old amir. hustle, good defender, doesnt force shots, doesnt force plays. has a very good grip on the ball unlike amir who keeps losing it. TH always knows what his role is and never tries to do too much. He just always need to keep in mind to go for the dunk coz he can, and the more he does this the less he gets blocked and fouled more.

If i were to play by the rules, id opt to keep Ross. Just because he can shoot the 3-ball and is a better defender than Demar.

My heart says take Lowry but he just tries to do too much sometimes and goes out of control.

Not really. I've been a fan of his since his rookie year. And last year I was constantly defending him.
