  • NBA.com Power Rankings - Raps #12

Whoa. But actually looking at it, there are ALOT of teams at 13 wins, and we have the best record out of them all.
We'd actually be in 5th in the East if we weren't given 4th for the Division.

    #13 Toronto (13-15)
    Pace: 95.4 (20), OffRtg: 102.8 (14), DefRtg: 101.6 (9), NetRtg: +1.2 (13)
The Raptors are 7-3 with the league's ninth best point differential since the Rudy Gay trade. Terrence Ross (averaging 19.0 points over the last three games) is taking to his new starting role and has shot much better with Kyle Lowry as his point guard. This is looking more and more like the best team in the Atlantic, but the division's toughest schedule so far stays tough over the next couple of weeks.
Pretty crazy that we've had the toughest schedule to date in the division and still have the best record.
If we're going to tank, its going to take some serious stealth.

Marc with some kind words for Lowry too:

I'm starting to think Kyle Lowry (18.7 ppg, 8.2 apg and 4.5 rpg) has a shot at player of the month in the East.
I don't know if that is realistic thinking or not, but even if he's in the conversation, that'd be interesting.
I wonder how much of an affect the Trade rumours had on him.

LOL...I actually like SI's snippet because of the jabs it takes at former Raps and the Knicks...

If sending them Andrea Bargnani before the season wasn't enough, the Raptors dealt the Knicks back-to-back losses last week on consecutive nights by a combined 27 points. And for those scoring at home, Toronto is now 7-3 since trading Rudy Gay.

For the fans of analytics, Hollinger's rating system has them at 11th.

At this point the only way this team turns this disaster around is by crashing the team plane.

Best draft in years an Toronto is Groundhog daying the fuck outta most the 90's and 2000's Raptor gameplans.

                What the fuck.

Hollinger's system also has them at 98.4% chance to make the playoffs, 88.1% to win the division, 7.0% to get to the finals, 1.5% to win the championship, and 0.0% to win the lottery. I've said before I don't put much at all into playoff projections early in (or even midway through) through the season (I think they tend to rate more strongly towards the highs and lows), and that hasn't changed, just putting the numbers out there.

I'm most impressed and excited about the 9th place defensive ranking. Considering the bench players from Sacramento are still learning Casey's defense the ranking may even get better!
