  • So we're all in agreement? JV is actually a God-Like figure when playing on the court with 30%+ usage.

    I ALWAYS Fu*k'in said that.

(Just trying to add credibility to my statement and demonstrate sincerity by saying "Fu*k'in)

Did you watch any games? The fact that the Grizz even won 1 game with Chandler Parsons, Bruno & CJ Miles constantly building brick condos is a feat in itself. And they've been without their best player - a rookie.
I've watched a few Memphis games and JV has been doing what JV does best. Delon is playing lots, contributing and still can't make an uncontested 3. Watching Noah and Parsons is torture. The fans love Noah and his ugly growling grizzly bear face act. Parsons and his mummified legs wrappings can't shoot worth crap FG 26%, 20% 3's. Kinda of a taller Norm P. look with no hops. Then there is Bruno getting 20 mins/gm shooting 25% from 3. Wow. Lakers fans must be just mortified watching their team losing that game.

Verrrrrrrry small sample size but his TS% is actually down a touch in Memphis and almost everything else is up, some big jumps:

            Toronto vs. Memphis #'s:

            Per 36 FGA 16.5 > 21.7

            USG% 25.6 > 35.5

            Per game PTS/REB 13&7 > 20&10

Pretty unlikely he keeps averaging 20&10 in 25 mpg. That would have to be some kind of first.

Fun stat since we traded him for a passing big:
            AST% 8.5 > 19.2
There have been 339 player seasons in NBA history where a player averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds. The lowest minutes average for any of them was 28 MPG. There was only that one single season where the player didn't average 30 MPG.

But JV may also see his minutes go up a bit - he can carry 30 MPG on that team, and if he were to do that, averaging 20/10 would be well within reach.

Memphis is terrible, though. JV is almost always the best player on the floor other than Conley and Conley basically mailed it in a few weeks ago. Not to mention, JV comes from playing for one of the league's top teams - man it's weird to say that - where everyone plays faster, harder, etc. He's a man amongst boys there.

Memphis has lost to the Spurs, Cavs, Bulls and Clippers since JV joined. Wether JV could put up numbers was never a question, the question was always if a team could win consistently playing that old school, half court style of basketball which JV thrives in.

Hopefully Memphis can start a streak of wins after beating the Lakers.
Bingo. All we're finding out now is that he's somewhat capable of doing what Vucevic is doing in Orlando.

And like Marc Gasol was doing all year before he got traded.

                  • Man you gotta love lowry though. 7pts on 6 shots but made a huge impact on both sides of the floor. Dude is a beast. Game winning plays throughout and all over the court. Seriously, how many guys in this league can impact the game like that without scoring even 10 pts? Move over chris paul...kyle lowry is the Point God!

And yet that's a perfect example. Jackson had his best season (19.6 PER, 18.8ppg) when he had his highest usage (30%), and then he was injured for a couple of years. He was complaining that it was hard to get used to playing off-ball this year, now that he's healthy.

It's actually not that hard to make a PG look great, as long as the coach is on board with it. Ramp Jackson's usage back up to 30% and he's close to a 19-20pt, 8-9ast, fringe all-star.
Maybe if you just want points and assists. Anyone who watches basketball knows that Reggie Jackson is hot garbage.

there's a good chance Kawhi was gonna leave regardless of what moves we made. So might as well go all-in and see what happens. Raps have nothing to lose. Might as well make a run for the Finals and hopefully convince Fun Guy to stay

                        • There were sure a lot of posts In December and January when Lowry was struggling

                          Since calendar turned to February:

18 pts, 8.5 ast, 43% from 3. The turnaround was actually about 6 weeks ago.

And his defensive intensity has kicked up another level since the all star break. I've seen him play 3 or 4 of his best games of the last 2 or 3 years In the 5 games since all star.

This obviously, is a good thing.

Just our luck that Reggie Jackson decided to clean up nice yesterday.

Played pretty good. Still only the 4th or 5th best player in the building.

Quietly, blake Griffin has become the best player in the east not named Giannis or Kawhi. Hes been a great leader there and it looks like the clippers trade goes down as "everybody wins"..not as sexy as picking a loser in every deal I know
