Why wouldn't you do a 2 for 1? You have nothing to lose, you still get 1 proper play in where you work the clock but now you also get to take a hero shot as well. Even if you go 1 for 50 on the hero pull up 3 you don't lose anything.
Well you don't really get a full possession. That's the whole idea behind the 2 for 1. If you get the ball with 32 seconds left, the 2 for 1 dictates you should try and get a shot off before the 26/27 second mark.

I'm not saying SVG is wrong, but it's not only me that disagrees. Lots of teams take 2 for 1's, so it seems a lot of teams feel the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.

      Thanks for the link
And this links back to how this conversation started. Does this mean SVG is a bad coach? Or does it mean he has a distinct style that emphasizes certain parts of the game?

Same thing goes for every coaching decision in that we can't usually say why he made that choice. Each decision affects the entire team, throughout the entire game and beyond.

Players are human, not basketball machines, and even though I hear people say "they're paid millions to be professionals, they should know how to conduct themselves," that's a lot easier said than done. Every player wants to win. Achieving perfect focus night in night out is stuff that buddhist monks spend a whole life working on.

Sorry but this game against the Celtics was like the ultimate package of all the stuff I cannot stand about Casey.

Ross comes out playing one of his best allround quarters in the 1st, Casey then leaves him to rot on the bench for 8 minutes in the second. He's playing perfectly fine in the third, Casey takes him out early and everyone is like "he is saving him for the fourth" but no, he is left to rot on the bench again before coming in with 5 or so minutes left? In the middle of DeMar hero ball, not much chance for him to do anything. Then randomly gets taken out. Bayless scored on him once or twice, but he was scoring on anyone. Does not get brought in to play defense in the last minute, does not get brought in to provide spacing for the last play.

To top it off, JV who is playing a fine defensive game, moving extremely well laterally with hedging and stuff and protecting the rim very well gets inexplicably subbed out with a few minutes left in the game.

It showed that Casey has absolutely no faith in his young players EVEN if they're playing very well, and this is only going to get worse as they go into the playoffs. Vets or Bust

I wish I could be happier after this win clinched the Raptors a playoff birth, but it really leaves me feeling a bit empty.

Lets hope MU is smarter than BC ( which I'm side he is)

BC have Sam Mitchell a good contract for for nothing

But I'm sure MU knows Casey only relies on vets

Either all the vets go or Casey goes

How he left DeRozan on the court in the 4th is what stumped me. He was getting abused on defense and his hero ball nearly cost the Raps the game. Yes he scored some points, but his completely selfish play brought the flowing team-ball offense to a screeching halt. It was awful to watch and you could see it coming a mile away.

DeRozan scored 14 in the 4th and 24 in the 2st half on 50% shooting

how can that ever be bad? 50% is a very good shooting percentage. If he shot 40% then you would have had a point

He was good in the 3rd, but forced his own game way too much in the 4th, which allowed Boston to make a game of it. He stuffed the stat sheet, but caused the offense to stagnate and nearly cost the Raps the game. It was a very Rudy Gay-ish 4th quarter for him. I understand he desperately wanted to lead 'his' team into the playoffs, but he played way too selfish a quarter and it nearly cost his team the game.

It's too bad this board has no sound. It would be fascinating to hear all the blood vessels popping when Casey is rehired. Guaranteed he will be back next year.
If we knew half as much about coaching an NBA team as we think, we"d know twice as much as we do.

I also guarantee he will be back, not that it excites me in the slightest but it's happening. I typically try to avoid getting pissed off at him for this reason because I feel like we're stuck with him for a good while and it will just drive you insane constantly getting annoyed at all the stuff he does, but today's game put me over the edge

In college, I got really drunk once and passed out on my friends couch. Waking up that morning, I realized I had pissed myself in my sleep. THANK GOD THE COUCH WAS LEATHER. Tried calling someone to pick me up but I realized my phone was ruined because the way I was positioned in my sleep, the piss got all over the phone. So my phone was ruined and I had to walk about a mile wearing piss soaked jeans.
