The Warriors' first title was full of match ups where the other team was down star players. What comes around goes around.
Yep... Lebron dragged scrubs to win 2 games against them.

When we win, the media is going to put the Mother of all Asterisks on our championship.... but IDGAF. This looks a lot like destiny.

No one down the road is going to say "KD joined the Warriors to win his rings". They will just remember that he won.

Old man KD will still be online arguing with nobodies. Those nobodies will never let him forget it.

Like I said... IDGAF, but you're already seeing that BS in the forums.

That's the thing though - the nobodies. People won't care.

10 years from now, any one of us could walk up to someone who might seem to be a basketball fan and ask them what they think about KD's rings when he won with GS. It's very likely that person would say that it was a great team and good for him. Very unlikely they'd say "oh you mean that snake who joined the team that kept beating him so that he could win a ring?"

Everybody remembers bad boys Pistons first of back to backs. Nobody talks about Byron Scott and Magic going down in back to back games. Everybody remembers the first Warriors title. Nobody still talks about that Love AND Irving went down and Bron still look him to game 6.

No asterisks for champions. Its hard either way.

^He's right. It will eventually be forgotten. Only the hardcore older fans will remember, and nobody will listen to us when we rant at the bar. The new generation will just know he's an older player who won championships.

                    • Anyone think we should go a little smaller - frontline of Kawhi, OG, Pascal - while the Warriors are depleted? Or do we stick with the defensive onslaught/traditional centres?

Yes. And here's the thing about certain types of injuries: A lot has to do with how hard and how often the team ride their players. It used to be that injuries were just a fluke thing that teams needed to deal with and/or use as excuses for losses. We've now reached an era in sports science and analytics that's starting to tell us that the risk of certain injuries are totally preventable/minimized, if the team has a good med/physio staff and know when to use and rest players smartly. Toronto is a leader on that.

Injuries like Looney's are banging, fluke injuries that every player is exposed to. But hamstring injuries like Durant's and Klay's, and one from Igoudala, are a function of wear-and-tear, and heavy usage. This happens because GS has a relatively shitty bench, so their top guys have to do a lot of heavy lifting in the regular season. Coming June they're falling apart.

So to those that think "Oh, GS only lost because of injuries", I say a big F-you. Should have load-managed your players better.

                            • Maybe the NBA marketing machine will get behind a raps win....

Leonard comes back to the Raps..Durant re ups with the Warriors and the year long narrative is a rematch between the beasts from the east vs a “healthy” warriors team out to get revenge for a championship they could have won except for injury...

                              i like it anyway...

There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.
