Hey guys and gals,

We're running a, how should I say, pilot or beta version of our new Raptors Republic app. We haven't made it official as we're still trying to work out some bugs while improving the user interface. So, its not the final version so expect to see more changes over the next while.

Anyhow, please feel free to download. Available on both Android & iPhone. It's absolutely free.

Android: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...rsrepublic.app

iOS: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-...6946?ls=1&mt=8

If we could ask a favour though. We're welcoming feedback and suggestions on perhaps things you'd like to see. At the end of the day we're doing this for you guys by making everything here easier available for you the user. Please send your feedback (Regardless if its positive or negative) to raptorsrepublic@gmail.com.

Thanks in advance and we hope you guys enjoy the application.

Watching the game, that stat doesn't even come as much of a surprise. But I might say, rather than that the Warriors "forced" so many late-clock shots, that the Raptors "chose" to run the clock down so late. And not even talking about 4th quarter running the time down while ahead (maybe that could account for like 5 of the 23 shots?). Just in general, so many guys on the Raps just seem to pass up shots for the extra pass (sometimes decent open shots), and it's not until the end of the clock that someone has to hoist it. Say what you want about this strategy, being "too unselfish," and so on, but when it works it looks good, when it doesn't, it just looks like guys are afraid to shoot.

But it seemed to work fairly well in Game 1 so I guess better to appreciate it at this point.

Everyone is understating the abilities of Marc Gasol. Yes, he had an above average game 1 compared to those he’s had with the Raptors.

Gasol can give you 90% percent of those stats every night. This guy has played in huge games at the national level, and stood toe to toe with team USA.

This is championship level Gasol and expect it every game

Another thing that goes understated is the amount of raptors veterans (Gasol, Lowry, Serg) that have never one a chip. I think that alone gives you an extra gear. Should be fun Game 2.
Gasol is also the biggest guy on the court now. No need to deal with Embiid or Brook Lopez. Draymond is the biggest guy who can defend him and he cant.

I think they need to get gasol more involved under the basket... it's easy since Green cant handle him (and for sure guys like Damian Jones will have no shot) and if there is a mismatch Gasol can exploit or pass it out if they try to double team.

            • The Raptors extend their lead to two games. Book it.

              • Over the course of the playoffs, the incredible Raptors defense takes a lot of energy to play, as a result the key players are gassed on offence, and that is why they clang so many open looks.

Nurse needs to extend the bench to give the starters more rest, that will in turn improve their shooting and allow them to cash in all the nice opportunities the offense is generating, but too often squandering, at least before the last game where they did better in this regard. The extended bench just needs to focus on keeping he defensive intensity up, the scoring will come when the starters score better by having their breath and their legs under them.

Kerr needs to put as much pressure on the Raptors defense as possible, make them chase and rotate like mad, extending his teams possessions as much as possible to force the Raptors to play their incredibly intense defense for as long as possible, even if this doesn't actually increase the Warrior offensive production, it will hurt the Raptors when they are on offense and there starters are too tired to shoot effectively. They also need to prevent the Raptors from extending their rotation by exploiting their bench players and forcing them off the court.

                • See what adjustment they have for Pascal, and if they send help, let Kawhi cook. Go Raptors.

                  • I think this outlines a divergence between the East and West. This is a challenge that GSW haven't had to deal with in the playofs in a long time: a team that generates most of its offense through the frontcourt. They're more used to teams like Portland, Houston, Clippers, OKC, where if you can shut down the guards, you're in great shape, so having as many options you can switch onto the guards is an asset. The East has become much more frontcourt-focused (at least at the upper echelon) with all of Toronto, Milwaukee, and Philly having the ball in the hands of skilled bigs as much as possible. They are not necessarily well-equipped with their current healthy personnel to deal with this.

This series is SO far from over. Lose game two and RR will predictably implode.
Win and go up 2 after two home games and it's still not over.

Play every game like it's game 7, never let up, no passengers, protect home court ....
Damn straight ...It’s far from over...
GSW didn’t get here because they are lucky or are the beneficiaries an NBA conspiracy.

But right now they are hobbled.
Durant is out again tonight. Possibly for games 3 and 4 as well. Who knows.
Igudoula is nicked up. How bad? The MRI is clear..but his face sure said something wasn’t right when he came down and grabbed his hammy.

Lots of talk about adjustments by GSW..but those two being hurt forces Kerr’s hand to rely on a thin bench to play a lot more minutes than he would probably like to. Raps need to and will punish the longer bench minutes being played by Cook , Jerebco and McKinnie. As the Warriors continue to play short handed the Raps are getting another long athletic defender back in OG.

The lord helps those those who help themselves..The Raps take advantage again of home court and the invariable injuries teams sustain in a long season and playoff run.

                      It’s closer.but still a Raps W.

Love the schuman quote...they forced them to the last six seconds...not that the raps moved the ball around looking for the best shot that materialized later in the possession ....or a strategy to slow the pace down and milk the clock as the game wound down.

This is a bit like saying the guys arm broke only on the third attempt while he was being curb stomped.

Too many days days between games.

                        • The Warriors are the top dogs for a reason, no game is going to be easy, and if we play at 80% of our capabilities we will get smoked. Got to approach Game 2 with the exact same intensity as Game 1

The key for me is making sure we have more possessions than them. Giving up offensive boards and turnovers to GSW = death. We are at our best when we lock them in the halfcourt

                          • All I know is this.

Toronto's hurdle was to make it to the NBA finals, the NBA did NOT want this and the whistles show it.

                            Toronto made it anyhow.

Now, there is no benefit to the NBA to screw the Raps, you can see it in the way they are pumping up the city on the telecasts, on all the NBA media outlets. Toronto is getting fair treatment now, on and off the court.

If Toronto wins, they will have earned it, and if they lose, from what I saw game one from the officials, there shouldnt be much to complain about.

                            • I hope they can win today but Warriors are going to come out guns blazing. I think this game will really tell us which way the series will go. Hope boys can come through.
                              All man. All amazing.
