  • don't u think Leonard would go to the Clippers ? they'll treat him like a king there too ...and he can make history there ...be the guy who gets the Clippers a championship before LeBron can get one for the lakers

The Raptors are the champs by the narrowest of margins. Let's remember that. There is no asterisk.
Won 4-2, with 2 close losses.
Its not Narrow, they won the series decisively.
This is what is NOT being said. When you have a team with 4-5 superstars, there are only so many shots. With all these guys hitting on great percentages, you success rate isn't as affected as people let on when one is down. With Golden State, Toronto Still had to play against a Mega star, a star, an allstar, a star vet.....but they didnt have to worry about a bench. Golden States team wasn't prepared for situations where they were down 2 mega stars. Toronto DOES have a bench, and they do have starters who ALL share in the production.

Its all speculation at this point. We should know in 2 weeks who signs where. Till then enjoy the parade.

Pretty sure we'd still limited to only the Mid-Level exception. Though Gasol has said that he will at least partly base his decision on whether Kawhi stays, so if Gasol opts out, as well as Kawhi, then I think we have money to play with. I could be wrong though.

Raps' tax situation is such that bringing back the whole team is essentially a financial non-starter.

But the good news is, they can have a reasonable tax situation if they just bring back Leonard, not Danny. Meaning if they want to bring back Danny, if they clear whatever his salary will be by removing someone else (read: Powell, or swapping Serge for someone with half his salary), the bill is reasonable.

Personally I expect Serge may be the one to go, but I also expect it will happen in the summer after they know if Leonard is staying.
Serge was a very important piece + an excellent recruiter of Kawhi so if Kawhi stays, Serge stays.

Also the team just won and they got extra money so they should go over somewhat over the luxury tax.

Maybe T.Ross will take a discount to come back....😎

                • If Kawhi leaves, do you guys think we should deal Lowry/Gasol (if he picks up his PO)/Ibaka for assets and try to do a rebuild? Maybe even trade VanVleet and Powell as well.

                  • From a tax standpoint if Kawhi stays the interesting decision is that the most likely guys to not come back are arguably friends/close with Kawhi. Danny, Serge, and Norm.

Actually people have said all that and I've said most of it myself. BUT they barely got out of the Philly series on a four bounce shot falling in. Then they hit an injury riddled Warriors Dynasty and barely won it in game six. The Warriors had the final shot in that game and missed; looks good on them. That said, the Raptors are very fortunate to be the Champions. It doesn't make me any less of fan to acknowledge reality. It doesn't diminish the value of the Championship either. I just speak the truth. If you don't like my truth then too bad. I'm enjoying this as much as anyone, maybe more so the some because I can acknowledge how narrow victory was. Its very special and who knows when/if we experience this again.

                      • The Post reported last week the Pelicans didn’t view the Knicks’ young assets as especially attractive in comparison to other Davis suitors, feeling they needed a third team more than any other squad involved.

According to an NBA source, the Knicks “weren’t close” to having a major package to entice New Orleans on a deal.

This is probably a commonly held view across the league. I like it. I think they're going to miss out on the top dogs and be forced to overspend on the next tier (D'Angelo Russell & Julius Randle maybe?). If that happens then the Mavs officially hosed them on the Unicorn trade.

My guess is Kyrie and Kev end up in Brooklyn and the Nets are a legit threat in the 2020-21 season. The Raptors have a wide open lane for one more year if Kawhi comes back.

In that scenario teams will overspend on Milwaukee free agents like Lopez, Brogdon, maybe Middleton. Could see JJ Reddick getting paid somewhere else, weakening other Eastern conference teams. Could really help the raps

I love the Brolo comeback story. I feel he doesn't get enough credit for what he did at this stage of his career. He went from tradition big man to three point and block specialist. I think he will garner a lot of well deserved attention.

Middleton is sticking around though, he just bought a house.
