    Lowry LEAVES:

    1) Sign and trade with Houston for Lowry in a 4 team blockbuster
    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=p5t57xb

Toronto: Lin, Harkless, #25 from Houston
    Golden State: Nelson, Asik
    Orlando: Lee, Motiejunas
    Houston: Lowry

Lowry signs for $10M leaving the Rockets with about $10M more in free agency. They could sign Hawes and McRoberts (just throwing it out there). I think that option would be better for Rockets than trying to land a max free agent such as Melo.

    2) Trade DeRozan
    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=lm9v58z

Toronto: Terry, #8, 2015 Lakers pick
    Sacramento: Dragic, Novak
Phoenix: DeRozan, Thomas (sign and trade)

    3) Trade Salmons, Hansbrough, Buycks, Stone for Boozer* and #16
    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=l5nuhe4

    4) Resign Vasquez and Patterson

    5) Draft
    #8: PF (Vonleh, Randle, Gordon)
    #16: LaVine
    #20: Ennis
    #25: Capela (draft and stash)
    #37: Inglis (draft and stash)
    #59: Draft and Stash

    6) Free agency: Aminu and Aldrich; both cheap 1 year deals with team option for year 2.

    *waived

    PG: Lin, Vasquez, Ennis
    SG: Ross, LaVine, Terry
    SF: Harkless, Aminu, Fields
    PF: Amir, Patterson, #8
    C: JV, Aldrich, Hayes

    2 draft picks in 2015
    2 draft picks in 2016

    Capela/Inglis seasoning in Europe.

$40M in cap space in 2015
Why re-sign Vasquez and 2Pat if Lowry walks? Especially if you're drafting a PF at #8 and Ennis at #16? Wouldn't you want to give them more PT?

Plus it's impossible to make that trade with Houston because we can't trade Lowry until the free agency period starts.

    I'll play:

    1) 3 team trade:

    Toronto - Love, Boozer, #16
Minnesota - Amir, Ross, Psycho-T, #20, Right to swap 2016 Knicks pick
    Chicago - Salmons, Novak, Buycks
    http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=meca4pr

    2) Toronto drafts:

    Ennis (16), Little Greek Freak (37), doesn't matter (59)

    3) Resign Lowry, Patterson, GV and NDC for $22M combined (waiving Stone in the process).

    4) Sign Aaron Gray for vet minimum.

    5) Sign Shane Battier (convince him to play for 1 more year).

    6) Give myself season tickets for life and a hot secretary.

The line up should look like this:

    JV/Gray/Hayes
    Love/Patterson/Boozer
    Battier/LGF/Fields
    DD/GV
    Lowry/Ennis/NDC

    Playing overseas: #59 and Zubcic

Sorry, that should have been Novak in the trade. Edited to fix.

Move 1: Trade John Salmons, Tyler Hansbrough, Dwight Buycks and Landry Fields and the #20 pick to Chicago for Carlos Boozer, the #16 and #19 picks, and the Sacramento pick they own.

Move 2: Draft Tyler Ennis at #16, KJ McDaniels at #19, Damien Inglis at #37 and Jordan Bachynski at #59.

Move 3: Renounce Bird rights on Nando del Colo and Julyan Stone.

Move 4: Re-sign Kyle Lowry (11m per year for four years), Greivis Vasquez ($3.5m per year for three years), and Patrick Patterson ($3.25m per year for three years).

Move 5: Sign Vince Carter at $3.5m per year for two years using the MLE.

Move 6: Exercise option on Amir Johnson to bring him back.

    Lowry (11) / Greivis (3.5) / Ennis (1.5)
    DeMar (9.5) / Vince (3.25) / TRoss (2.8)
    McDaniels (1.2) / Inglis (.6) / Fields (6.25)
    Amir (7) / 2Pat (3.25) / Boozer (16.8)
    Jonas (3.6) / Hayes (6) / Bachynski (.6)

Total: 76.85, just skirting under the projected luxury tax boundary. We bring back our core, and replace most of the unnecessary fringe bits with rookies we can develop - and we have nearly $30m in expiring salaries to give us maximum flexibility going forward, either for a trade or for a big free-agent signing in 2015.
You seem to be both trading Fields and including him in your team salary.

They're not really giving us two first-rounders since we're trading the #20 and since the Sacramento pick will probably end up converting to a second-rounder. And it's worth remembering: Jerry Reinsdorf is incredibly stingy despite owning a massively profitable franchise and has consistently refused to go into the luxury tax. It is quite likely he'll be willing to give up a net first rounder and likely second rounder in order to avoid spending seventeen million dollars.

You guys, try to consider the other team's perspective too.

Pelicans aren't going to give us Anderson for Patterson.

Bulls aren't going to give us two first round picks to get rid of Boozer when they can simply amnesty him.

    Good ideas otherwise.

Why is TRoss buried in the back, he should switch with VC.
Depth charts are basically meaningless since DeMar, Vince and Ross will end up platooning at SG/SF most games anyway.
