Best talent on paper. Lot of good defenders.

Only reason they fall short is lack of late game execution and coaching. Having Embiid shoot fallaway 3s is a recipe for losing in the playoffs.

They don't have a guard or wing who can create his own shot in crunch time. That's where Simmons kills them. Tobias is probably the best threat, but he chokes a lot of the time. They should have paid Butler, whatever the price was (5 years?). Brett Brown isn't exactly "calling" fadeaway 3's for Embiid. Teams are collapsing the paint and giving him that.

                • The Beast no longer resides in the East. Philly may only prove to be a good not great team, but that's still likely the class of the Eastern Conference

Thats why they will lose in the Playoffs. They have great defense, but offensively, not enough shooting and too many players (Embiid, Horford and Simmons) will be clogging the lane. Jimmy Butler was exactly the player they needed to get deep in the Playoffs, but he left.

                          • Solid win. Need some of the reserves to play better.

Barrett with 19/15/5 tonight. And he has lots of room to improve. And he’s the best player the Knicks have had since Ewing.

Embiid is too good to take a stupid shots like that. Brett Brown should ban him from even attempting that. Good coaches put their players in the best position to succeed.

                              • Philly may need to make a coaching change to take them to the next level. Brown is sort of like Casey in that sense. Solid coach, gets his players to buy in, but limited.
