Looking back at the last Canadian big game .. We did have some talent but Cory Joseph was horrible at the point guard
positon . Put SGA on that team and we are for sure going to the Olympics . The fact we only lost by 2 with no point
guard production says a lot .

I read something today .. We should cheer the Americans cause if they win then top 3 Fiba America's qualify .

Also on the subject of stupid . Eric Gordon .. Who played for the Americans in 2010 World Cup was aloud to play for the Bahamas and they knocked off Argentana .

Heck the Red rocket married an Canadian and wanted to play for Canada and wasnt allowed to for years .

Ranking the NBA's Most Overrated Players of the Last 5 Years:

1) Dillon Brooks
2) RJ Barrett
3) De'Andre Hunter
4) Gabe Vincent
5) Lu Dort

I was thinking will Barrett's stock rise if he has a great World's .. I think Brooks playing for
Canada will do wonders for him personally cause he had a bad year last year image
wise . Funny Lu Dort was undrafted and so anything he does successfully is
a good story and so how does a undrafted player become overrated ?

Could it be a blessing that not all players invited came to the Worlds ? Shortened roster of stars means you have your core 8 and you play the crap out of them and they will chemistry. Loaded roster it would have been constant changes during the game and.nobody would get in the flow

This team with Jamal would have been really good. Our starters were all really good though. And Dort is a solid 6th man. Not the greatest depth though. Wish we had another ball handler. Still a really big missed opportunity for not allowing Nembhard or Mathurin to participate.
Need to really box out though. Felt like Spain got a lot of second chance opportunities.
Our defense is really good.. and unlike the NBA can be a lot more aggressive without fouling. The refs aren't the greatest, but they let you play for the most part.

Edey got some time on the floor and he's pretty bad offensively. But can rebound and protect the rim. Will be way too slow for the NBA. And can PnR him pretty easily even at the WC. So will get limited time.

yeah coaching matters, the difference in play style matters as well as rules and officiating, and team continuity to some extent (although that is overblown as you have pointed out before).

but i'm also not sure that there's as much of a talent gap between an NBA role player and stars from other top international leagues as there is perceived to be. so like if your national team has a number of NBA players but they are dudes like cory joseph and dwight powell you shouldn't be some sort of prohibitive favorite over a team with less NBA players with stars from other leagues.

we finally have some upper echelon NBA talent on the national team. let's see how that works out for us
