The game is delayed because at 8:00 they were still at the airport

Canada's defense was smothering and their offense was clicking but don't know if that was more to do about Canada
or the fact the Venezuelan team was going from plane airport and on to the court in a two hour span

Don't know how FIBA ranking points go but being 9-0 with a + 304 . Should get some FIBA points I assume .

I'll take it either way. The Canadian players still had to put the ball in the basket. I missed most of the first quarter, but I saw some pretty good shooting from our guys. So well deserved win in my eyes.

              • I only saw the closing moments of the game. I have it recorded so I might rewatch it later. But yeah felt pretty bad for Venezuela, who would be a tough opponent when there were no barriers for them. I suspect the rematch will be a lot tougher in February.

The world cup will be a lot of fun. Just need to keep winning so we get put in a favourable pool.

I don't know the full story, but apparently our competent government was really late on granting the team entry visas, which messed up their travel plans. I like a home-court advantage, but that's just unfair, if it's true.

edit: oh, I see guyroch posted the story above. That's just embarrassing.

                  • Guys we won 94-56.

I don't think Venezuela arriving earlier would have changed the outcome.

We played 12 guys and 10 of them more than 15 minutes each. We really emptied the bench here and Venezuela still got crushed.

Give props to our boys, they were just straight up better. Canada has caught up and surpassed these other countries in talent, including the non NBA talent that plays in these events.

It's hard to say.. it's like the Raptors beating the snot out of the Hawks, yet they were playing their 4th game in 6 nights or something. When you are tired and rung out, it's hard to compete.

Venezuela was 7-1 before that loss. They aren't a bad team. We play them again in February in Venezuela. Let's see how that one goes.

If we played our starters the whole time I'd give more credit to Venezuela but they got abused by our deep bench guys.

Our starters all played heavy minutes against the Hawks and we only went 7 deep.

Venezuela went 10 deep too though. We played 12 guys, but a couple only played like 5 or 6 minutes. The game got out of hand quickly though. So no reason to keep the starters in on either side.

If the Raps only played 7 guys that's a terrible look on Nurse's part.

We are turning into a third world country when it comes to government services/competence. Just had to deal with the feds on something and they told us 270 days for a rubber stamp. It's really bad.

An incredible list of guys who have committed to the program and will be available to play next summer. All respect to the guys who got it done in Edmonton. Never had a run of 10 and zero before. And the great and committed players just keep on coming. Oh. Tip of the hat to Vince Carter who started it all. For better or worse, the Carter Effect is real and has been a big boost to basketball in this country.
