He has a contract signed with Canada Basketball through the Olympics .. Saying that . If he gets a new gig I am pretty sure he will have a lot on his plate starting his new job .. Although if he preached loyality from Canadian players then how would it
look on him that he bailed before his job was done ...

A Murray/SGA backcourt can take down any team in a one game knockout tournament. And nobody would call it an upset.
Would really like to see Wiggins this summer but I don't think he will .. If he comes to play he won't have the presure to be " the man " like he had with the Wolves and his role would be somewhat similar to the one he has with the Warriors ..
Dillon Brooks can do some repair to his reputation if he comes to play for Canada and has a great summer with the team ..

If he loves it with the same fervour - nothing will stop him from achieving his goals
USA is the only country that could match it, and even that would be arguable.
We need Canada to start producing some big men to round out the squad.
Kinda hoping Edey goes to play in Europe and learns to dominate international play.
We have FIBA Olynyk, who is the Canadian Luis Scola in international play. SGA/Murray/Wiggins/Olynyk is a hell of a squad for FIBA. Shouldn't really matter who the other big is.

I guess I'm just remembering our last meaningful international tournament.
In the 2020 Qualifiers we lost to Czech Republic and their 7'1 center Ondrej Balvin put up 14 pts, 19 reb, 4 ast, 1 stl, 5 blks. Their PF scored Schlib scored 31.
Those guys are not NBA quality.
Just looked it up and Olynyk hasn't played with the national team since 2015, so that may be the problem. Our big men were Powell and Lyles which obviously isn't gonna cut it.

1. Re: Ondrej Balvin (who?) and Schilb (who?).... Coaching matters.
2. Re: Olynyk. He played last summer (2022) and also in (2019). And he dominated, as usual.
I hope after what looks like a very deep playoff run that Murray will suit up in August. SGA and Murray with a couple others from the likes of Dort, Barrett, NAW, Nembhard, Mathurin, and Joseph (vet), make not only for a great starting duo, but a very deep backcourt. We could start 3 guards easily as many can handle small forwards defensively.
Those are Americas so we were playing absolute shit competition outside of Argentina. He did well against them though so nothing to complain about, just hope he's as effective against good international teams as opposed to the virgin islands.

Well you did say he "hasn't played with the national team...".
But even so.... other than the summer of 21' Victoria debacle (with Nurse coaching), Team Canada hasn't played any good international teams outside of the Americas for a long time. And it's highly debatable whether the Czechs or Greece (without Giannis) even could be called a "good" international team.

Yeah, so even worse we lost to the Czech's.
Anyways if Shai and Murray play we're gonna destroy teams, could have us out there with them.

In international ball you still need a good front court. Goal tending is allowed (well when the ball is off the rim). Plus you can play zone and have your big planted in the key. These little things make it more difficult for guards to penetrate. And easier for defenders to stick to guards as well.
I love our back court.. but I think we really need Edey to play. We don't really have any other great big men. Powell and Olynyk are under sized. Boucher isn't really even playing but is undersized too. Wish JV became a Canadian citizen and played for us

Olynyk is not a bruising 5 but he’s not undersized. Powell at the 5 is small. While they are not the paint clogging bigs that some Euro teams employ, that plus athletes in being able to run the floor, and in Kelly’s case, handle the ball in the open floor. We need another legit big, but if both Powell and Olynyk show up we should still be a very good squad
