Sabonis played for Lithuania in 2016 as a rookie. He was drafted in the lottery too. I'm sure there are others, but it's likely rare.

Let me know when this happens and I'll put it to bed. Name me the rookies who were just drafted who played for their national team instead of doing summer league and training with the team who drafted them. I'd like to hear which guys had enough juice to tell their new team to fuck off. Got a funny feeling it's zero players.

The Great One wrote: View PostSo I was just reading about Edey. His situation is a lot different than Wiggins. The Grizzlies didn't block Edey. Edey remove himself from consideration to play for Canada so he can prepare for his NBA career.

It just makes you think. Lessort is not in the NBA. Birch, Olynyk, Lyles and Powell are. Lessort is better than all those guys.Mamba Mentality

They got outworked, specially in the 1st half. They made a guy named Lessort looked like prime Shaq -- and Lessort isn't even a true big. He's probably 6'8-6'9.

You probably have to pin this loss on bad coaching by Jordi. Our bigs were completely un-prepared for FIBA rules and physicality for the entire tournament. Olynyk is especially disappointing, since he's basically been the Canadian Luis Scola in his FIBA career. He sucked the whole tournament and Jordi needed to find a way to get him untracked.
Birch was probably our best overall big and maybe that's because he's playing FIBA rules year round (he's in Turkey now). Meanwhile, Wemby said that France made a lot of adjustments during the 4 days off to prepare for Canada. Coaching matters a lot in FIBA.

I know we are all frustrated with Murray but not every NBA PG had instant sucess in the FIBA game .. Curry is averaging 7.0 points
a game and 25 percent from 3 .. Damion only averaged 11 points a game .. The fact he had to come off the bench and played with
a bunch of guys he had never played with and a system he has never played in .. There is some understanding as to why
he played so bad ..
Saying that .. This guy playing for the National team as a High Schooler looked amazing and he was playing with a bunch
of guys he had never played with and a play book that was new to him .

Nah, Lessort, Cordinier and Yabsule are fringe NBA players, 12-15th men at best.

Nick Nurse lost to Czech Republic and Tomas Satoransky at home in a qualifying tournament. Jordi lost to Wemby and France (at home) in the Olympics. You decide.

I would say it had far more to do with Jamal Murray playing terribly in a big game when he was supposed to be their second best player. His performance sunk them.
Meanwhile, the French coach benched 4X DPOY Rudy Gobert because he wasn't a factor on offense. You have to make some ruthless quick decisions in these one & done knockout games and the French coach called it right.
If we're not blaming Jordi, then you can go with the obvious... our so-called "bigs" playing soft.

The tournament in Victoria 2-3 years ago that he coached at, the two best players on that team were Wiggins and RJ. Cory Joe was the starting PG, Anthony Bennett I think was one of the players off the bench. Lol.
As for Wemby, he only scored 7 points. If you told me before the game that Gobert wouldn't play and that Wemby would only score 7, I would've said easy win for Canada.
Yesterday was a complete disaster.Mamba Mentality
