  • Game #48: Toronto Raptors 115 - Cleveland Cavaliers 109

Not only is it game 48.
We've got the first 48 hour stretch of basketball in over a week.
Strap yourself in as the streak hits a back to back.

It was nice to have some "normalcy" in basketball with the game against the Hawks.
Nice touch for Pascal and Serge to each score 24.
And, for all (but one) of the Republic, the return of Vince provided some levity.
    And we had this.

First the 'chip, now the accolades. Proud to have Kyle at the top.

But on to the matter at hand.
    The Cavs.
    From Cleveland.
As you may have heard last year, the East ran through there.

Now, that's what he did say.

What he meant to say was..

    Here they are.

    PG

    SG

    SF
(with an assist from Fred and Norm)

    PF
(with one more assist from Kyle)

    C

    (he's still one of us)

As of the latest updates, Gasol is out which may be trouble against their bigs.
OG is not on the injury report and is expected to play.

Not sure things are quite back to normal yet, or when they will be but it's nice to have the distraction of basketball.
It's even ok to start to enjoy it.
Or even to laugh at it a bit.
After all, we all know where the road to the East went last year.

Jclaw is our streaking unsung RR hero. Take us all the way to the all start break my man, you know it's doable!
2019 NBA Champions. Glad to have doubted the doubters.

Yeah lets run these guys out of the gym so we're well rested against the Pistons on the second game of the back to back.

Wonder if everyone's favourite backup PG will be available.

Is Gasol confirmed to be missing this game yet?
I feel they'll sit him due to:

              a/ actually being injured
              b/ precautionary reasons
c/ It's Cleveland and no reason to rush him back and can use him rested next game against Drummond in Detriot

              Who's the backup C tonight?

Yeah Marc is declared out already. And it will probably go back to what we had earlier in the year, with Serge as primary C, and Boucher as his backup.

I can't decide if I like this stretch against shit hole teams or not. Great to pad the stats and build up the record, but awfully tough to get up for.
It's Klaw Season. Time to hunt.

Like it. It will help us lock up the second seed, which looks to be strategically important this year.

I don't like it as a basketball fan cause these teams are awful to watch but it's critical for Toronto in the grand scheme of things to try and create some distance between it and the other top Eastern teams. Raps have 8 games left until the break and only 2 (the Pacer games) are against above .500 teams. Toronto could be (should be?) 40-15 going into the break which is amazing and Raps still have a good chunk of games (10 or so) left against bad teams after the break.

The other side benefit could be Gasol. Even without him they have to be favorites in 7 of the next 8 games, so the option might be there to shut him down until February 21st if they needed to get him 100% healthy.

No better way to showcase trade assets than against shitty teams.

McCaw going for 40 minutes tonight?

Ugh great, just saw the news. My favorite poster disappeared with him too, its been so nice around here.

McCaw and The Claw are both questionable to return tonight
