Right now the Raptors have the core of their playoff rotation more or less set: Kyle, Norm, OG, Pascal, Gasol, Ibaka, and FVV, with Boucher, Rondae and McCaw getting minutes as needed to fill it out. The problem is that seven guys you can really count on is one guy too low, and that ideally Boucher, Rondae and McCaw are break-glass-in-case-of-emergency options: Boucher is still green, McCaw's improved but isn't quite ready for extended playoff minutes, and Rondae's a defensive specialist who's only going to get you garbage buckets. The Raps need one more wing who can defend a bit, score a bit and pass.

Am I crazy or is Vince Carter perfect?
You CRAZY. How are his 6 points off the bench going to move the needle?

That's the kind of goofy fake nostalgia move a loser team makes to distract fans when they are lousy for a decade or so....that's NOT US any more .....

You completely forgot Terence B. Davis Jr. So yes..... you are indeed crazy.
Yes. Davis isn't just a break glass in case of emergency player. By the time the playoffs come around he will be a for real rotation guy.

I don’t really see a fit for a buyout player here. Like, what rotation spot is open for someone to slide into? Best bet is probably getting someone to play ahead of RHJ, right, at the big 3/small 4 spot? Even there with OG sliding down sometimes it’s hardly a spot that’s enticing to step into, and the Raps don’t have much in way of cash to compensate. No guard should want to sign here, we’ve already seen that McCaw will get minutes over better players, and the Raptors shouldn’t want to put another roadblock in Terry’s way anyway. And centre might be the hardest sell of all, with Gasol and Ibaka not really having enough minutes to split as it is, and Boucher AND Hernandez in the wings - and even if neither are proven that’s a lot of bodies to contend with.

We may not be an attractive place for buyout players to come to because the rotation is both talented and pretty much set, but I think if there are bought-out players which fill a need and are interested in coming, we seriously consider them. So what do we need?

          * Injury insurance at the center position, especially if you think that Marc's hamstring will continue to act up for the rest of the spring. Ideally, this center will have the bulk and the strength to absorb lots of physical contact in the playoffs (which plausible substitutes Siakim and Boucher don't really have enough of).
          * A better rebounder in the frontcourt for if we're getting killed on the glass. (This can be rolled up in with the previous one.)
          * An established veteran who can create and score reliably in multiple ways off the bench if the bench's offense is stagnant.

I agree with the previous commenter who tabbed Biyombo as a good fit. I think that he would be a good treading-water substitute if we continue to lose Marc intermittently for the rest of the year, and could definitely contribute in spot duty in the playoffs as well. I can't see how he'd give up the amount of money necessary to do so, even if he still has fond feelings for the Raptors in his time here. I see Biyombo staying where he is, unless maybe he thinks he can be in the mix to be resigned with Ibaka and Gasol both expiring, but I can't see how that would benefit him or the Raptors.

In regards to the other ex-Raptor mentioned, I suspect that if this really is Vince's last season, he might actually want to close out his career in a Raptors uniform, and if he doesn't care about playing time, he could definitely fill in as the established veteran who can come in and keep the bench's offense afloat. The Raptors might likewise agree to picking up Vince if he's interested, because it would be the classy thing to do. I don't know whether he's a perfect fit, as was suggested previously, but he's a plausible one, and as long as he stays in his role (which is his current role in Atlanta right now, more or less, I think), and he doesn't become a distraction, he could actually help the team.

There may be other options, but I'm not confident that there will be any talent upgrades for us. We might nevertheless pick up someone who may help us address our need for an additional frontcourt backup with strength and good rebounding, but I'm not confident that we'll get someone who would even crack the rotation under normal circumstances.

Yeah, I've totally forgiven Vince. The way he left burned me for a long time, but he was young, so was the franchise, and I dont know enough about what went on to hold a grudge forever. He seems like hes turned into a real pro and a genuine good guy. They should definitely bring him on board if he's interested. Imagine the Raps could be the team that puts a ring on his finger.

PGs and bigs for injury insurance are the usual suspects. Trey Burke & TT (let's hope) would be okay by me.

But who do you cut for those guys? TT isn't getting cut, there's already been a report out of CLE about that. Burke? Over who, Miller? I guess. Don't think it really does anything for us. But again, why would either player come here? Buyouts don't go sign on to be injury insurance. Some contender or playoff team will have a rotation spot to offer.

Any PG we get would probably take minutes away from TD, and not McCaw. The solution was to trade McCaw to free up minutes for TD, but that didn't happen.

I still think a stretch 4 should be our target. A guy that competes with RHJ for minutes. A guy like Marvin Williams.

I'm okay with Biyombo too.. he'd make a nice towel waver. And would be good in case we need that emergency rebound or something in crunch time.

I'd cut SJ (and his guaranteed deal for next season) for those two guys. I still see something in Miller even though he's pretty bad.

The only reason I wouldn't want Biyombo is because I'd rather play Boucher over him if we need an 11th man, and I feel like Boucher would be stapled to the bench if we got Bismack

Not sure...good veteran player, has he lost a step, rather have him than mccaw any day..but I can say that I rather have anyone than mccaw..

Marvin Williams could have been a nice get but unfortunately he is going to the Bucks.
