  • Something like 12 US States each had COVID cases spike more than 25% as restrictions eased last week.
Sorry peeps, they need to keep sports shut down ....
We all want to watch Raptor ball again but I honestly don't think it's going to work.

Get people back to work and see what happens first. It's only a matter of time before a few players in every sport test positive again imo. What happens when that team is just about to move on to another round/team.

Well for it to work at all each person involved with the production of the on court product would need to self isolate for 14 days first and undergo testing. That's also referees, arena staff, etc. Was this bit in the plan?

But making sports go, even without fans, is getting a bunch of people back to work. Pro sports is literally a business.

The NBA is about to inject a pile of cash into the central Florida economy.

What has been crazy in the US is a lot of people just decided they're over it without actually gaining much ground on reducing the spread. They've just had enough anyway. This is nuts:

They have a pretty strong constitution and an incredibly strong culture build on that constitution. I'd guess this is the source of the difference.

          • Why are we still worried about "total daily cases", with no context to go along with it?

            • Depending on whose numbers you believe something like 260 Orlando airport employees tested positive for Covid on slightly more than 500 tests.

Not sure the constitution is entirely the issue. For one, the constitution is pretty much static through the 250 yrs. or about... but in this case, science has changed quite a bit. Scientific advice and facts surely must take precedence over some notion of personal rights at the expense of other citizens.

The other issue is the federalized nature (50 states) of the country.... each one with a degree of autonomy. I would lean to lack of civic & other education standards and the political divisions in the US.

And not least, the abysmal and confusing leadership of the current occupant of the WH.

Can you imagine the strain on healthy workers in that airport now that 260 people are out?

If that were true would there be 270,000,000 guns in circulation?

                        Broken record alert:
If the percentage of positive tests is not significantly increasing, hospitals are not overrun, and over 90% of deaths are people 80+ (or 60+ with chronic COPD), raw number of new cases have very little meaning (outside of alarming the public and playing some silly political game)

My post was in the context of a severe and unique pandemic environment circumstances and the 1st amend.rights frequently cited re movement restrictions ... not the 2nd which you are possibly referring to.

That's not how a constitution works. You can't pick and choose. You're all in.
