ok, i see. valid point, definitely a possibility.

yes, but the hospitals aren't over run. no one in here will die because they can't get service. the places in the world that didn't do what we did, aren't being over run. the places that hid what was happening while it spread all over the world were hit hard, and the first places that believed their bullshit.
The hospitals weren't over run when they implemented all this in the beginning either. The measures were designed to avoid an Italy scenario playing out here. Last time we faced something similar to this it was pretty much an alien world compared to this current world. You should not assume that current measures will always be in place while the virus is ongoing. They're learning as they go, trying things on the fly. Better to be too cautious than not cautious enough is the mentality.

"Learning to live with COVID19" is the final level of the plan in all these government measures.

Further, you're not considering the mental and physical toll on the front line medical workers. If Canada opens like some of you want and what medical experts are predict happens then you're kidding yourself if you think the medical system won't buckle and not just for mathematical reasons. There is a human element to this, those doctors, nurses, technicians and support staff are not robots.
You are talking like it's March 1, as though nothing has happened in the last three months. The purpose of the lockdown was to flatten the curve - reduce excess deaths. That has been accomplished everywhere in Canada outside of maybe Montreal. All of the risks you are warning about have been avoided. Those who are suggesting that we must take indefinite action must, I would think, give consideration to the considerable harm that is being done because of those indefinite actions.

I don't think people understand the tsunami that is coming or the death and economic destruction that is being done with these continued lockdowns.

Not to mention, all these people crying to open it up are not generally the ones suffering most. The people most affected by the virus are the ones (outside of LTC/seniors) who are still going to work every day - low income, vulnerable communities. They have to take public transport, have to come on regular contact with strangers at their jobs, don’t have proper PPE, etc.

Opening up gets you your massage, your basketball, your conveniences. Opening up puts more of the vulnerable at risk. But we don’t talk about that...
Opening up isn't about massages or basketball games or wanting working class people to die but you know that already.

The point is, vulnerable people ARE dying and will continue to die if we open up too soon. I know that’s not meaningful, in comparison to the “sky is falling” economic messaging, to some people. But I guarantee it’s meaningful to them.

i support indians and their rights to congregate for their religion, despite lockdown orders. same as christians, mulsims, and any person that wants to be free in a free country.

the nba didn't pay it's rent. don't worry though it's all sunshine, stay home, we will print money, don't go out, stay scared, socialism will get us through this. the politicians will be ok, plebes can rest assured, they will make sure they serve us by guarenteeing themselves, their families, and their friends receive everything they need to live comfortably while the rest of us live through a recession they created. don't worry though, inflation is already accounted for in their salaries, and pensions.

a little thought control by the canadian press. it is racist to say china virus. using the same naming techniques as every other time is racist, if china started the disease. not our press doing the brainwashing of what canadians are allowed to think and say, just reminding everyone what is and isn't ok to say.

my guess is these are all chinese people, and are staying covered to protect their identity, and their families.

how much advertising is being made to target canadians? are you willing to pay more for food to encourage your fellow canadians to do those jobs? that money gets saved and sent home. it could stay here and make more money.
Instead of just throwing money at people for doing nothing, the government could be offering a premium to folks willing to work at jobs that depend on migrant workers. That way the money stays in Canada, the work gets done while minimizing the risk of bringing in workers from locations where there may be issues, and folks doing the work and getting paid have a chance to hold their heads up, improve their condition and get a different look at a different commercial endeavour while the agricultural sector is supported and Canadians get to eat Canadian produced food. Win, Win, Win, Win, Win, Win.

Yes, yes, yes. Tax breaks for the company instead of government subsidy

Edit add: all those Canadians that hate farm work can see how rich farmers are, and use their new found experience and connections to start thier own farms.

This is pretty funny. Bar bans masks. Hahaha. Smart play. If a store can demand mask use, it can demand no masks.

"Due to our concern for our customers, if they FEEL (not think), that they need to wear a mask, they should stay home until they FEEL that it’s safe to be in public without one. Sorry, No Mask Allowed"

                      Haha

"Kevin Smith, the bar’s co-owner, said the anti-mask rule was “a pushback against the wannabe snitch patrols and the contact tracers they’re gonna hire.”

We need "thinkers" and "doers" in the world. Since the early 90's though, everyone in the western world all of a sudden just want to be a "thinker". Relatively very few want to discover farming, take up construction, or turn a wrench for a change. What you do now is go into a long, 4-year Bachelor of Arts program to be a thinker or some kind of manager that would never actually do the very job they're supposed to be managing.

Then when reality hits, many realize they're 30 but still in their parents basement, emasculated and complaining about the world. Complaining from their ipads with a full belly from chicken and fresh vegetables they have little idea where it comes from, about companies that employ "doers" and produce the very energy and abundant supplies they were born amidst, and that they feel entitled to.

You get a cottage, a boat, good vacation time, and a good pension in almost every trade.

Graduate high school, get an apprenticeship, and bam. Your life will be good. You will work hard, but you will always be employed, and your salary will only go up.

I think you summed up the market being over flooded with thinkers. Gavin McGinnis and stephen crowder were talking about the next generation watched this generation go to school for gender studies majors, get 300k in debt, and now are indentured slaves to wherever they can get a job. They thought their way to everyone else just paying off thier debts and bet on Bernie, ouch. The next generation isn't going to fall into that trap.

The second government added socialism to collage loans, and gaurenteed them tuition skyrocketed, and our kids suffered.

The second government added socialism to house loans, and guarenteed them, the banks started writing loans to people they knew couldn't pay them back.

                              • Lol alright this one is for my homies KeonClark and G__Deane Deaner. Real headline from CBC today:

"Employers need to get serious about preventing workplace injuries in the home during pandemic, expert says"

You must always have babywipes and mashed puree food ready to spoon-feed, lots of bubble-wrap, and there better not be any pulp on that orange juice folks.

                                Real quote from the article:

Sitting for a living is hard on you as it is, but when you're at the office, you've got your fancy work chair and your adjustable desk and all the things that your employers provided you to keep you safe," Pattison said. "But now, with the pandemic, you're working at your kitchen table … or sitting on the couch, and it's putting the body into awkward prolonged positions.”
You gotta realize this guys, there’s real danger here. It’s not like you working on a mine, cleaning high-rise windows, welding on an off-shore oil platform, or dealing with biohazardous chemicals. You’re on your laptop at home and that’s a real danger.
