Possibly but this article fails to mention other negative factors such as that fact the virus kills T cells similarly to that of HIV. The extent is still being researched but the t cells are the front line defense and once one becomes a young adult the body loses it's ability to produce significant amounts.
Can you please cut this panic-porn out? The study from China claiming T-cell infection was quickly criticized and finally retracted for being total junk.

So you're aroused by news articles about COVID19. If you find its a problem in your life then you're right, the best thing you can do is to avoid it but that change must come from within, not from without. Good luck.

What are you looking for? I can't shelter you from everything you define as porn. That's your job.

Today is July 10th and the link you shared said the article was retracted July 10th. So it became porn in your mind sometime this morning then, did it? So avoid it.

          • Instead, let's talk about Trudeau trying to give $900M to some friends at WE that have had him, his Mother, wife and brother receive significant "homorariums/pay" whatever. I use sports to keep my mind OFF politics

That whole thing is off, both the fact that the Trudeaus got personally reimbursed but also the whole idea of handling almost a billion dollars to one NGO to distribute in behalf of the government. Funding like this is normally distributed by the government itself directly to successful applicants, hopefully as part of an open and transparent proposal process.

The whole Trudeau family has always been a bit aloof, not sure they're convinced the rules everybody else needs to follow apply to them.

Plus Morneau is exposed as dirty too now. It's incredible the lack of common sense and WE gets painted with the same filthy brush.
JT continues to get very very bad advice or else continues to ignore it.

So building herd immunity does not sound so promising. I am glad Canada opted not to experiment with that:
                    https://news.yahoo.com/research-coal...194200542.html
To paraphrase a quote, “herd immunity does not mean giving the herd the disease”. It would be a disaster if any country, state or province had enough people get the disease to even create the possibility of herd immunity. Herd immunity is getting enough people the vaccine so that the people who for whatever reason choose not to get it, are still protected. No herd immunity til then.

                      Definition:
Herd immunity (also called herd effect, community immunity, population immunity, or social immunity) is a form of indirect protection from infectious disease that occurs when a large percentage of a population has become immune to an infection, whether through vaccination or previous infections, thereby providing a measure of protection for individuals who are not immune.
                      https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herd_immunity

So I disagree and for instance people have been watching places like Sweden to see if they'd achieve herd immunity. It's been widely used in this and similar context.

All correct facts you point out. But notice they mention vaccination first. Sweden is the often quoted country but they are nowhere near herd immunity.

Here’s the thread I was talking about.

                        • So you're coming up with a rule book of how we should follow definitions? I don't recognize your authority. I still like ya though.

Bringing it back to the initial exchange, what I said fits the definition and in here earlier the idea of letting the virus take its course in order to developed a herd immunity like would happen in all times prior to medical science was tossed around. Sweden was brought up. That's where I was coming from with my post.

Half of what we've done we're going to realize was ineffective in hindsight. I'm fine with that when decisions had to be made on minimal data. As new info like this comes out, it better inform upcoming decisions - e.g. how to operate schools.

Depends where you are I'm sure, here city parks are open but school grounds (inc playgrounds) are still closed.
