Jokic killed them, but Clippers couldn't score last night. Apparently players were asking to come out of the game in the 4th cause they were so tired. One of the main principles of small ball making bigs obsolete is scoring at a pace which doesn't allow the bigger (slower) team to keep up. Clippers weren't going to do that shooting 3's the way they did.

Not really. 4 of our 5 full-time starters were different than the year before. Lowry was the only holdover from the 2017-18 starting unit. Kawhi was load managing most of the season, which messed up chemistry and Gasol joined the team after the all-star break. The continuity excuse from Doc Rivers is pretty lame.

The main difference is that Nurse >>>> Doc Rivers. Nurse thrives under adversity and his players take on the same mindset. The other difference, like Kawhi correctly pointed out, is the super high IQ of the Raptors starting unit + FVV. The high IQ allows you to get that chemistry faster... it doesn't take years. Jokic and Murray are also very high IQ players.

We did add Kawhi and Danny from the trade and then traded for Gasol mid-season, so it wasn't exactly the same team from the year before, but the Raptors made it work because they had high IQ players that played with heart. You could tell the Raptors slowly started becoming a cohesive unit as the Playoffs went on, they got better and better.

Balmer has the deepest pockets among NBA owners. He'll make sure they find a way to bring back a better roster next season, but that improvement will have to come via trade. I doubt Raptors would get involved, but who knows.

Ballmer has deep pockets and so did the new Nets owner and this isn't done yet (they've got another season) but the Clippers may have just Nets'd themselves the same way Brooklyn did with Pierce/Garnett/Deron.

That Clippers team does not have enough winners on it and that was evidenced all season, never mind in these guys individual careers. All of a sudden Lou Williams was supposed to be a team leader and championship lynchpin? Montrez Harrel? These guys were fun role players on a not very good team and have never been much more than that their entire careers. And Paul George looks like an MVP for about a 1/4 of his NBA career, a regular All Star for about half of it, and a disappearing act for the other 1/4.

A lot of "Heart of a champion" jokes after Raptors/Celtics, the Clippers have none of what the Raptors/Celtics/Heat/Nuggets have. No grit, no drive to win before anything else, no chemistry or synergy.

The bubble drama was a huge warning flag. Clippers had a rough season with guys in and out of the lineup, they get a 3 month break, come back to play ball and....go out for chicken wings? Did any team look less committed than them? The Phoenix Suns tried harder.

All that is not going to change next year. The Clippers don't have It. They have the talent to look great every now and then, but I don't think those guys put in the work next year either.

1. New York is not just about the Giants. The Jets actually have a huge/loyal followers. In LA it's all about the Lakers, nobody gives a shit about the Flippers.

The way I see it, the small-ball and pace and space leads to bad-to-average centers getting played off the floor. But you still need good centers to win, and great ones still dominate, and in the case of Jokic, going against smaller teams works to his advantage

JVG called them "front-runners" in Game 6. That basically sums it all up in one phrase. As soon as adversity hits, they folded.

Yes but a lot of the team that couldn't get past LeBronto was back. Danny is a glue guy, he helped make it work with Kawhi for sure. At the top was Kyle, who was the true leader of the team. The Clippers never had a Kyle Lowry. Its not like PG was there established and then Kawhi showed up.

Also, I absolutely hate their unearned swag. Fuck those guys, I'm happy they got put in their place!
