Raptors had the second highest scoring duo in NBA playoff history (Kawhi & Siakam) and one of the best defences in 15 years since the 2004 pistons. Any coach that played the Raptors in the playoffs or broke down film from that Raptors team will tell you how elite that team was. The dismissing by the american media is due to 2 reasons: (1) clickbaiting on the insecurities of fans up here, and (2) saltiness and bitterness about the fact that it was yet another year that LA, Boston, Philly and NY were not in the finals (they will forever brown-nose those teams because that's where the ratings are).
I agree with you. Kawhi had a historically dominate playoff run. The team played amazing with different guys stepping up every game. There was no way to contain them and they improved in each series.

    • Perk picks the Raptors to return to the finals and win it.

Perk, don't listen to Lou. Never shut up. The truth can hurt like lemon salt to the eyes. 😂

Max is a fool. So just because Miami has Jimmy Butler, you take them over the Raptors?!

Miami isn't getting out of the first round, how about that.

You could tell quite clearly which man out of the three never played ball and doesn't watch (much) ball. Max should stick to boxing.

Toronto is loaded. Toronto is fueled up. Toronto has the destination set on the GPS and they are off. No stopping for wings or to bitch about accommodations. They are all professional. I love it.

Jimmy Butler is good, he is an alpha male when it comes to taking the big time shots for his team, but he isn't in the same tier as someone like Kawhi. Its stupid to think Jimmy can carry a team like Kawhi can.

            • To pick Miami over Toronto, Boston or Philly is a joke. If it's not the Raptors, it's the Bucks, if it's not either of those it's Boston. It's clear to see who the elite teams are.

To tell you the truth, I think we are one piece away. I'm a little nervous about our half court offence. If Gasol can play back to his Memphis days, we may have enough to get out of the East. Siakam is going have to be a stone cold killer in the playoffs. We need him to be able to close out close games. I hope he can make the leap.

Jimmy Butler is gonna get his alright but all those first or 2nd year players are gonna piss their pants the first time in the playoffs.

                Good luck facing the Sixers.

One of the hockey pucks on TV today after the Raps game was saying how heavy Gasol looks
You can tell he never follows NBA at all ....

The other dude looks at him and says "where have you been dude, literally all the talk for two weeks was much weight Marc has lost and how good he looks"

                  Poor hockey puck ....

                  • So Hypothetically........

Lets say Lou Williams tests positive after his great peeler cusine tour in Atlanta which he managed to squeak in after the "family" funeral he asked to be released from the bubble to attend.

Do you suspend him for the remainder of the year if you're the Clips President/GM ?
There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

Max is half right though. All he's saying is that most championship teams have that elite wing player that can take over games. Kobe, Wade, LeBron, Ginobili, Kawhi, Durant, Curry. Those type of guys. The Raptors don't have that type of player. Where Max is wrong is when he talked about the Heat as a contender because of Jimmy Butler. Jimmy Butler is not that dude either.

                      • Last thing, people likes to make fun of Kendrick Perkins because of all his LeBron takes but you can tell he watches the games. Can't say the same thing about some of the other "analysts" today like Pierce and Rose and Shaq and others.

To everyone not a Raptors fan, this team is the same as the DeRozan led, 50ish win versions. No superstar so no chance of going deep in the playoffs. Raps just have to prove them all wrong.

A bit higher ceiling than those DeRozan teams, IMO, because the overall talent level is higher and more experienced under playoff stress. Also, DeRozan is replaced by Siakam who has less easily exploitable flaws (e.g. 3 & D). And then there's Nurse vs. Casey..... lol.

This is the biggest factor in our favor...

Siakam doesn't have the name recognition with US media which DeRozan has even through he is a vastly more impactful player. Raptors just have to keep making the "experts" look stupid.
