  • Restart Game #3: Toronto Raptors vs Orlando Magic - August 5, 2020 - 8:00 PM ET

    PROBABLE STARTERS

    TORONTO RAPTORS

    VS

    ORLANDO MAGIC

    GAME NOTES

    • The Toronto Raptors continue play in Orlando on Wednesday night against the Magic. The Raptors have won the first three meetings with Orlando and have an opportunity to sweep the season-series for the fifth time in the last eight seasons (2012-20). Toronto is 23-5 vs. the Magic during this span. Fred VanVleet is averaging 20.0 points, 5.7 assists and 3.7 steals in three games against Orlando this season.

    • Fred VanVleet tallied a career-high 36 points (8-16 FG, 7-12 3PT, 13-13 FT) in Monday’s victory over Miami - his fourth career 30-point performance and third this season. VanVleet made a career-high 13 free throws and tied a career best with seven three-pointers against the Heat. He is the first player in franchise history with at least seven threes and 13 made free throws in the same game.

    • The Raptors have won their last six regular season games (Mar. 3 - Aug. 3). Toronto is shooting .451 (219- 486) from the floor and .396 (89-225) from beyond the arc, while Kyle Lowry is averaging a team-high 25.3 points, during the streak.

    • OG Anunoby has been credited with at least one steal in each of his last 17 games (Feb. 2 - Aug. 3). This is the longest single-season streak of its kind for the Raptors since Kyle Lowry had at least one steal in 21 consecutive games during the 2015–16 season. Anunoby (91) ranks second on the team in total steals, behind Fred VanVleet (93). The last time Toronto had two players record 100+ steals in the same season was 2002-03; Jerome Williams (116) and Alvin Williams (111).

    • The Heat shot .425 (37-87) from the field and .311 (14-45) from three-point range Monday afternoon. The Raptors have held their opponent to fewer than 100 points in 20 games this season - most in the NBA. Toronto is 16-4 in those contests. The Raptors currently lead the NBA in points allowed per game (106.3) and opponent three-point percentage (.336), and rank second in opponent field goal percentage (.428).

    • Toronto needs two victories in its final six games to reach 50 wins for the fifth straight season. The Raptors never won 50 games in their first 20 NBA seasons. Since the start of the 2015-16 season, Toronto’s .690 (272W-122L) winning percentage during the regular season is tops in the NBA.

    • The Raptors lead Boston by 4.0 games for second in the Eastern Conference. Toronto is looking to capture its sixth Atlantic Division title in the last seven seasons. The Raptors face Boston in Orlando on Friday night in the fourth and final meeting between the two teams. The Celtics lead the season-series (2-1).

    • Kyle Lowry (19.9 ppg, 7.6 apg, 5.1 rpg) has a chance to become the first player in franchise history to average 20.0 points, 5.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds in the same season. Lowry has produced at least 20 points, five assists and five rebounds in the same game 16 times this year. Lowry is averaging 23.5 points, a team-high 11.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists through two games in the Orlando bubble.

Lets try not to allow DJ Augustine punk us again. Might need to sic’ OG on him.

Orlando was a more interesting challenge when Isaac was back. Now the offence should be easier to find, and Gasol on Vooch will likely cripple their offence. Likely matchup in the first round (almost guaranteed at this point). Expect Nick not to show much of their playoff approach in this one, might make it closer than it should be, but Raps should still pull it out. Would be good if Pascal could break free and have a big game, needs a bit of a confidence boost, he's been solid but hasn't really gotten to play loose yet.

Also, game day! Loving this bubble schedule and don't even have to feel guilty for the players with no travel involved.

Orlando has been pretty good in the bubble.. I mean they lost Isaac which is a big bummer, but he wasn't playing much. Now their schedule has been soft up until now, but they've been rolling.

But yeah, most likely our first round opponent. Hopefully Brooklyn surpasses them but that's unlikely - although they do play each other one more time and that could seal that spot one way or another.

I'd like to see the bit more from Gasol that nick alluded to as well.
It's great to have these next man up game, where a new guy carries the load every night. But you can't just expect that to continue and consistency rules in the playoffs. Would be great to see more consistency Norm, FVV, Serge and Pascal. You know Kyle's going to bring it every night

Can't not appreciate how Mixx is on his game with the album covers so early in the bubble. No double a contributor to our success so far. Go Raps

A good listen from a pretty objective (though long time knicks fan) guy. Listen from about 16:15 to 22 minutes

Free agency is going to be really interesting. There are all the usual questions but you also wonder how many of these team owners are in serious financial trouble and whether the ones that aren't but that are losing money (on all sorts of things) are going to be motivated to spend big money in free agency. Toronto might be well-positioned to retain more guys than in the normal course.

I wonder if COVID will be a factor. I know they're all bubbled in Orlando right now, but I'd want to keep my kids up here in our healthcare system.
