I dont know if money was the only factor for serge. We all love these guys but lets be real, the clips have a better chance at getting serge another ring then the raps. Espically if he knows we want giannis and in order to get him he is probably gone next year.

Number 2 may not be as big a factor but has to be thought of espically with a guy that is nearing the twilight of career, post playing life. Serge has been going balls out with how hungry for you, his fashion show, his love for fashion in general. All those out of basketball reason are going to be much more lucrative in L.A

I agree with that, I think moneywise that raps had something that could very well have competed with 9.5M/yr for two years. What happened was deja-vu from other free agents, here and elsewhere: guys leaving to LA for non basketball reasons. In this case Clips also happen to have a better chance at the ring at moment (due to Kawhi landing on their lap last year, also due to non-basketball reasons ). So all in all really nothing new.

What's unsettling is that it's another reminder that we're not a strong free agent destination (it's not how we have historically improved our team) and yet that's the centerpiece of our team building strategy for the next couple of years (the Giannis cap space). That said, I'll trust our org. I'm sure they're looking at multiple avenues.

That's why he'd perhaps come on a vet minimum or cheap. His upside is greater than his well known floor. He's only be a backup with Boucher to Gasol or Baynes/Giles.

Bottom line is we're not going to truly compete this season, let's mix it up.

As per a Hollinger tweet, Gasol to the Lakers would require a sign-and-trade to pull off, even if they salary dump JaVale McGee to the Knicks, unless it's a contract around the vet minimum level.

For centre at this point you just need a warm body with some bulk that knows where the basket is on a pick and roll and will grab you some boards. Simple, but we don't have that anymore. I'm sure they'll find an off-radar player or get Baynes.

Either that or finally sell high on Lowry before his value goes down and go for Embiid.
