It's Giannis or bust for the Raptors. LeBron, Kawhi, PG....these guys were never going to sign here.
If Giannis re-signs in MIL, i still want to know what Plan B is? please don't say Oladipo, he's one of the most overrated players in the game. The next 2 best FA's after Giannis, LeBron and Kawhi are Lowry and Gobert.

There is no plan B. There just isn't.

Gobert is by no means at the talent level of Giannis... but his contract will be movable for good pieces even at max salary if the fit isn't right.
I don't expect the Raptors to pursue Kawhi... but I expect them to listen if Kawhi shows an interest in returning. I see this as unlikely... but not impossible. The Clippers are very much the wrong fit for Kawhi from the perspective of winning in the playoffs; Kawhi needs to be top banana on the court but second banana in the locker room, and the Clippers seem to have no recognition of that. The problem with Kawhi returning, if he's willing, is that the Raptors would need to retain Kyle to be that team leader, and even with Lowry coming it at a lower salary, Kawhi would need to take a pay cut.
I don't think Kawhi is ready to take a pay cut to find the right fit. If he is, Miami (where Butler is ready to be the man and having Pat Riley around to run a tight ship) could be more likely to get him that we are.
Oladipo will need to really show out in Indiana this year (including demonstrating that he's fully healthy) and actually want to come to Toronto for us to show more than polite interest. We're really more structured for adding a 4 or a 5 than a 3, in my opinion, so while we may be prepared to talk, we'd want to know what our plan for our frontcourt would be before putting ink to paper. As with Kawhi, this would no doubt have the awareness of the front office but not be part of a plan per se.
I don't think Toronto moves off Lowry mid-season. There isn't a lot out there to trade him for at present (both in terms of talent and salary) that makes sense during the season. Resigning Lowry to a two year contract at the right price with the second year partially guaranteed is a good way to ensure that the team has an additional trade asset for further moves if Toronto does not sign its desired free agents, and I think the team considers this their in-case-of-emergency-break-glass option.

Gobert is probably the plan B, much as some here hate the notion. Gobert/Siakam/OG/Van Vleet is enough of a core to keep Toronto an upper echelon team in the East, which is desirable for a team which is just too talented to go into full rebuild mode.

I have this scary thought that popped into my head this morning. George can't be traded for a year, but now is locked up for 4 more years. Giannis enters free agency. Takes a meeting with LAC because his girlfriend is from there, they are contenders (have Kawhi), etc. LAC pitches a S&T with Milwaukee where George goes there, and LAC gets Giannis.
Milwaukee does that to get an all-star in return for Giannis but also is locked up for 4 years (they are not a free agent destination).
Serge comes back (has a player option).
Lowry enters free agency too, and goes to LA to play with Kawhi/Serge and Giannis, and to win another chip.
So Balmer steals Kawhi, then Serge, then Giannis and Kyle from Masai in back to back to back seasons.
