Speaking of culture, what's the deal with the interest in Markieff Morris?
This must have been a leverage bluff ... no way Masai actually wanted that bonehead.

    • I just want to know what Plan B is? because landing Giannis imo is a longshot. People keeps talking about how "loaded" 2021 class is. Yeah sure. Kawhi is not signing here. LeBron for sure is not signing here. Who's the next best free agent after those 3? Kyle Lowry? is re-signing him Plan B? he's 35. who's the next best FA after Kyle? Paul George? is he good enough to be the #1 guy on a championship team? no. Is he better than Siakam? meh.

      So what is Plan B?

Also, do we even know if Masai is going to be here next year? how is he not signed yet?

If we get Giannis Masai stays. If we dont then Masai doesn't resign. And we rebuild. Hit the lottery.

Plan B has to be keeping a roster that is flexible enough so that whenever a legit top 5-7 talent is available we have the assets (either cap space, or contracts for a trade) to bring that player in.

Harden is most likely the next super star that is going to leave. Maybe Houston keeps him for the year and tries to trade him next off season. We miss out on Giannis, we use our cap space, picks and young talent to bring him in. Beal could be that guy as well (although he's not a top 7 talent, more like top 15).

We just want to be as flexible as possible going forward.

I think Masai stays regardless. He's just buying time to create more leverage for himself. MLSE will pony up. Masai is a golden goose for them and they love their bottom line.

Beal is better than Harden. He should be Plan A. Raptors should do EVERYTHING they can to get him without giving up Siakam and FVV. When you hear rumblings in Washington about Beal, you know it's just a matter of time.

Plan B should be Giannis. IF they think they have a realistic shot at landing him then you open up space by trading Siakam.

I don't think Washington moves him.. they are rebuilding around him. It's Wall that they are trying to ship out of town. Mainly because he's upset that the Wizards chose to rebuild around Beal and not him.

But I take Giannis 10 times out of 10 over Beal. He's a legit 2x MVP. A complete monster that has lead teams to multiple 60 win teams. Beal can't even get his team to the playoffs.

And yeah the Siakam/Giannis fit is weird. But we can move Siakam easily if we needed to.

It's really hard to predict 1+ years out. No one had Kawhi on our radar 1+ years in advance. Giannis/Harden/Beal are all targets that make sense and might be gettable. There'll be more that we have no idea on right now. You just have to set up the roster right and be ready, that's where we're at right now.

Part of the problem is the question. Fans (not speaking specifically here) kind of demanding to know which top 5 player we will land in the next year? It's an unanswerable question. No team knows that, not even the LA's.

Yeah, I'm becoming more partial to Beal over Giannis for this roster. You need that Mamba Mentality, contested shot, clock winding down, fearless guard/wing scorer if you want to win in the playoffs. Beal has proven to be that kind of guy. Like others mentioned... the Siakam + Giannis fit is a bit awkward.

Giannis + Beal is actually the best fit of all. Maybe Masai joins them both in Washington?

                    • Here's a question for the cap gurus on this forum. How is LAL adding all these players without resigning AD?

                      • What's with all the love for Beal? He's been in a weak East conf for years and not even sniffed a conf finals yet. He's not a top 15 guy, maybe not even a top 20.

                          They traded for Shroder.

Because they are not a luxury tax team, and signed a free agent with cap space, they had the full mid-level and used that on Harrell.

They resigned KCP using his bird rights.

They signed Wes Mathews using the bi-annual exception (what we used for Johnson last year).

They brought Gasol in for the vet minimum.

Now they can resign AD using his bird rights.

                          • Dewayne Dedmon will probably get waived by the Pistons. Raps still need more center depth. Dedmon flashed some potential as 3-pt shooter a few years back, and he's a good rim protector. Serviceable backup C.

I've got reservations about Beal too, but if the last 2 playoffs have proven what we've known all along... it's that you need a guy who can "go get a bucket" when the offense stalls. Even Giannis can't do that. Beal has flaws (*cough* defense), but he's one of handful of guys that can get his shot, when everybody in the building knows excactly what's coming. The guy is a 30 PPG scorer, ffs.

I mean, KG and AD never sniffed a conference finals until they joined good franchises, so it's hard to use that argument against any player.
