we shouldn't be planning on building around ANY rookie who is unproven.. the only person who you may want to plan for is Cade, or Mobley. Mobley is so seamless that it isn't a concern. Cade is looking good but again.. he hasn't played a single NBA level minute... sooooooo yeah.

Lol. I’m not sold on Barnes either. Having to build around his flaws is a strong argument against drafting him in the first place.

For me, it’s a shot creator or bust.... either draft or trade the pick for one.

I wouldn’t be against a multi-year rebuild either. A Pascal, OG and FVV core isn’t scaring anybody.

yeah thats why I don't think they "have to" get playmaker. if they think he's good enough to be part of championship core then sure but if not then don't draft shot creator just because he's shot creator. Maybe drafting an elite role player is smarter then trying to draft a mediocre shot creator. There are other drafts in the future.

I doubt this will be more than a one year rebuild, as in the season which just passed. Otherwise there would have been no reason to hold onto the core.

Plan as always will be to find a star with term on their contract. Finding one in the draft would be unlikely but certainly add an interesting wrinkle to their plans.

part of what makes a playmaker dangerous in my opinion is their threat to potentially score. Otherwise, you will have a player that you can plan against by sitting on the passing lanes.

What this team needs is a pure, raw scorer that can create his own shot in different ways. That's it. Their position, their floor vs ceiling, their defence, ability to create for for others, yada yada is all secondary.

Need an offensive force to take the pressure off pascal so he can unlock his game, which in turn will lead to FVV feeling less of a need to chuck up shots late in the clock, leading to a ripple effect that will kick our whole team-offence into another level, including Trent's and Flynn's game. Considering the stage of the team's rebuilding cycle, this is not the draft to finesse a calculated, "safe pick". It's the draft to swing hard for an impact offensive player.

We already have a solid defensive foundation and culture with OG, pascal & fred. That's well rooted. Time to balance that out and continue move away from this current approach that has given way too many minutes to defensive boy-scouts and floor shrinkers like RHJ, McCaw, post-wash Gasol, bembry, stanley etc. Need a player who knows how to put the ball in dang hoop, assisted or unassisted, from the paint, midrange and 3. Worry about the rest later.

On this draft, that seems to be Cade-Green-Suggs-Mobley (in that order), and if you're outside the top 4, Tre Mann and perhaps Bouknight.

Agreed. By that criteria, Barnes isn’t a ‘dangerous’ playmaker. I guess we’re kind of seeing that in the playoffs with Ben Simmons.
