Personally, I stick to my guns, unless you are consensus number 1 pick or a NBA ready generational talent who can make an impact right off the bat, you are a project and requires time to develop, be allowed to make a boat load of mistakes but not at the expense of the minutes you would need to be a reliable NBA starter.

That being said, can Mr. Nurse change his style and be a coach to a young no.4 pick rookie? Does he have the patience and will to survive a team with two 27 years old () and the rest are young and developing players?. Time will tell.

They traded Norm for GTJ because they decided that was the best asset they could get back for Norm (who they weren't going to pay the bag in free agency): a young, capable player whose future is essentially controlled by the Raptors because he's an RFA. Ideally, they re-sign him for 16-18m a year, and then see what he can do: he'll start sometimes, other times he won't, but everybody will get lots of minutes and the team will decide how they want to move forward. If GTJ is part of that, great. If not, he's an excellent asset in a trade for a star player.

Not entirely true... I think the second part of your statement is very true but I think ultimately it comes down to they didn't decide that it was worth it to keep norm if they aren't going to pay the man. I don't think they deemed norm to be a 20m per year player or above. That is what norm is likely going to be getting. I think it is a bit of an overpay. I think they were looking at someone who could become an asset or potentially give what norm gave to us. I think he could become better than norm although I don't know if he does. He has the tools to do it. I think he has a better fancier handle off the jump. I think he has the ability to carve through the lane once he has developed more of an instinct to drive and not just chuck.

Ultimately though Norm and Thomas, and Davis were all traded to free up space and because the FO didn't dream them to be worth paying to retain those assets through free agency. I also agree with their assessment. Norm getting 20 locked him in with our core into a capped out team that just would never be good. I agree with what you are saying in terms of an asset. Norm was always talked about as a critical trade piece because of his cap hold and skills. GTJ can become that. I don't see him projecting out as a starting-level player in 2 years. I think he is a valuable bench piece, albeit one that may be slightly over paid. Do not be surprised if he gets around 16 million. I do not expect him to get 18m.

I take Mobley, his's defense is already similar to Ibaka, had Raptors had Ibaka, Raptors should be a top 4-5 team in the East.

As I said, the Raptors sorta don't really NEED a point guard(actually Raptors are LOADED with PG), but they DESPERATELY need a 5. I understand at this point you take the best TALENT, 1-drafting Suggs would not be enough you need another player to play with him, 2-Evan Mobley is NOT THAT Untalented, I think he's Talented and he fits Raptors Perfectly and RIGHT AWAY.

Suggs works because he is a true highlevel combo Guard. I don't think we have seen his type of player before or in a while. I can't compare him to any one really. He will be able to play point but he will also be able to play SG because of his size. On offense he is likely the defacto point guard assuming flynn isn't on the floor, on defence he is likely playing SG.

Nick Nurse is the surrogate parent of Van Vleet…sure he gave Flynn and Harris meaningful minutes when everything seem to turn to a throw away season with long term intention of sucking to get a better draft position.

But this upcoming season, I really don’t think that this team can afford another tank parade. That being said, any mistake by this new rook could create a wrinkle to this dynamic of “musical chairs guard rotation”. Anticipate mistakes will happen especially if they draft a guard who may play behind GTJ and Van Vleet.

Nick Nurse could end up the bad guy when it is all said and done.

I don't think nurse ends up being the bad guy. I just think that the rookie will play 20 minutes and then have a chance to play minutes on the g - league as well to get more reps as well as bolster that pipeline with competence.

The Raps aren't some awful rebuilding team that can afford to allow a young player to play through a boat load of mistakes though. I'm sure he will get his opportunities but you can't expect Nurse to put winning on hold so the rookie can get up to speed.

Nick Nurse is at his best when he was given a high end talent most especially in the playoffs, we knew that, winning 16 high level games against elite teams was no easy feat considering he only had one superstar player at his disposal versus teams with more than 1.

reminder to those who would argue that the Raptors were winners when Kawhi was on load management or last season when they won a handful of games versus playoff contenders however, common wisdom, Regular season is entirely different to post season

The jury is still out how he would coach a team with two middling 27-28 years old, the rest needing development and a no.4 Rookie requiring starter minutes.

He deserve a winning team after an awful tank season. Masai should do what is prudent

On the bright side the 4th pick should have a bigger impact than Flynn and Harris did, especially if we draft Suggs who looks more NBA ready than most prospects. There is reason why Flynn was the 30th pick and Harris was a 2nd round pick.

Hoping that this no.4 will turn out a game changer, the Raptors right now without Lowry are the Suns, Atlanta and Dallas a couple years ago. Two years is two years of development so that is what I am saying

Yeah.. and Kemba will be much cheaper. OKC's only asking price will be a future pick (of course).

If u want Kemba, sure his cheaper..but Kemba is Trash. Overrated..
Lowry is Hall of Famer and champion..this is why I want raps 2 keep him, but seem like both raptors organazation and lowry camp agreed to move on.
Raptors get compensation and Lowry gets to go where he wants to..plus make a lot more money.

One more thing, OKC is a rebuilding team…they traded their two high dollar middling talents (Paul George and Westbrook) although both are way superior than the Raptors two for a boat load of picks and their Veteran very impactful player in Chris Paul like what will happen to Lowry.
