They have the 4th hardest remaining schedule in the league. They'll play the Nets, Clips, Lakers & Denver twice each (including Denver in the altitude tonight where Norm/Lowry might sit out). Pacers have the 3rd easiest remaining schedule.

Depends what they get back and how they gel. No it's not likely to be a better team this year but might just get better results

Were not getting a superstar back.
This situation is not like the Nets that when they acquired Harden they became even lethal.
We are most likely getting back an okay rotation piece, an aging vet who will be waived and picks.
And there will be an adjustment period for them too.

I already mentioned the Nets and Nuggets. The Lakers don't have LeBron and AD. Who knows how long they'll be out? they look like a lottery team without LeBron and AD.

Cunningham's issue is that while he's been a dominant scorer in college, I genuinely don't know if it'll translate to the NBA simply because he's not particularly athletic. You don't need to be a freak athlete in order to be a superstar (consider Luka, for example), but Cade hasn't been dominant the way Luka was outside of the NBA. I don't think he'll end up a bust, because he's a really good defender and those never totally bust, but I could see him ending up a rock-solid 3-and-D guy, and you want a #1 pick to be more than that.

I remember when James HArden was a player in the draft...Curry too..... too slow for the NBA is what many said. Thing is, sometimes guys are just better than their peers.... but you arent completely wrong. The draft is all gamble.

This is where interviews and research plays a big part.
Teams need to due their due diligence to really dig way way deep into each candidate,
Their attitude, motivation, how passionate and driven they are to win.

If the Raptos get to the play in and get the 8th seed out of it, they will be picking 15th. The worst playoff team gets the 15th pick. We can probably assume the team that ends up in 8th out West will have a better win/loss record than a similar team in the East that gets in.

Not really. If we finish 10th, winning the play-in drops us from about the 9th pick to the 16th pick.

It does not matter if it is the 9th pick or the 16th pick...the draft will always be a crapshoot...

unless once again....the top Nine picks are all generational talents and the Raptors may miss getting one if they go below 9th

Right off the gate, this specific draft does not have one. Raptors may just be equally lucky to develop their next reliable core using the 16 pick than the 9th pick.

Why it is a crapshoot in the first place.

If we can't find a stud in lottery what makes you think we will find one late first round though? And how else are we going to improve the team? Beal is not coming through that door and Beal is not even a savior
