Draft pundits should be graded like all pundits. Are they saying anything unique (or just spouting conventional wisdom/talking points)? Are they providing useful information/evidence that improves the listener's knowledge of the subject matter (or just making assertions/giving opinions)? What is their track record?

I disagree, high bust potential. He's not Ayton.
My question is why do you think he has a bigger bust potential than someone else you have suggested?

I'm thinking Masai goes with Kuminga if Suggs and Green are gone. He's a year younger than Suggs and Green + he's from the DRC.
Also, he will have the ego drive to compete with Jalen Green statistically because they are connected through the ignite team, he will work harder to be legit if his former teammate Green excels in the NBA. vice/versa.

I don't think he has high bust potential but I agree he isn't Ayton Different players different styles. I think he can have pick and roll potential from the jump but his offensive game and its upside is higher and just plain different than ayton.

I would be astonished if Kuminga was Masai's target.

yeah I don't get his love for sengun. The guy is basically a mix of JV and Sabonis but shorter. He doesn't fit the modern NBA game and will likely get played off the floor like JV was. He is young so he may get one last growth spurt perhaps. but yeah.
In terms of Luka. I am surprised we didn't see luka go first overall I really thought he should have gone first. If the Sun's got Luka instead of Ayton oh my goodness on the wing they would have been INSANE.Mamba Mentality

I think it's his weight that gives me some cause for concern. As well as the role he will be expected to have in the NBA vs college. He was pretty much the main event at USC and he will be transitioning to a system player. Also, he isn't a great rebounder for a 7 footer.
He averaged almost 9 rebounds a game in 33 minutes. Not the strongest rebounder but hardly a red flag.
He definitely needs to put on weight and strength. Reminds me of... every single rookie big to ever hit the NBA. Heck, draft day JV only had about 20 lbs on Mobley, and he's one of the biggest bruisers in the league right now. Ideally Mobley will never reach that level of strength with a more intelligently planned physical development curve, but there's no reason to assume he can't put on the weight and strength needed. In the short term it will hurt him and limit his playing time in all likelihood but they should not be making this pick thinking it's about how good the player will be this upcoming season.

The weight will come. Again I am not saying he will be AD I am saying he is a taller Bosh. He doesn't have very far to improve. He can pass already in a way that would be similar to Gasol so his play making right now are his offensive super power. If he becomes a decent shooter and he is already a better shooter than Barnes. He will be VERY good.
Weight with our training staff is something that I wouldn't worry about.
I hear you on Green. Suggs will be there though more than likely if we want. I just think without even improving and taking away lowry from this team whether you project out one year or 5 years Mobley or Green are the better prospects with Mobley having the potential to be WAAAY better. My only concern is I don't think he can be a #1 scoring option but I don't think you need him to be with the play making already there. I think you can find a substitute for that even by looking at guys like GTJ next year to fill that role.
He fits a need and he would be the BPA.
Rebounding wise he wasn't shaq but he rebounded up there with the best of them.
Mobley's understanding of the game ALREADY is what makes his upside nutty because its really just getting the physical tools ... and by that I don't mean height or reach.. I mean weight which you can definitely do. Not to the extent of Wiseman but again he isn't wisemanLast edited by TrueTorontoFan; Thu Jul 15, 2021, 04:11 PM.

realistically speaking, if you look at next year's draft and the next NEXT year's draft, you have Chet Holmgren in 2022, and Victor Wembanyama in 2023 both of them make Mobley looks like Shaq. If you don't take Mobley, then forget about getting your Core Big from the draft in the next 2 years and start looking for Free Agents. I mean......you are already made it this far at #4, player like Mobley is in your fingernails, do something about it.
