I'm not worried about Mobley's weight. At 210-215 he can put on 20-15 lbs in no time, he's not Boucher skinny, he's actually quite built. As DanH was saying any team that drafts him wants to make sure he puts on weight that doesn't diminish his athleticism.
2 more weeks and we can stop debating and just start critiquing who we actually drafted... it can't come soon enough.

Dean on the draft also brought up the point that Mobley's supporting cast was much worse than Cade's. I didn't watch a ton of Cade because I didn't think we were going to be in the running for him, but Mobley's was pretty bad. USC's guards were brutal, and look how far that team got.

I'm still a Suggs guy, but am warming up to Mobley.
But I still think Barnes is going to be a legit candidate at pick #4. He just seems to fill all the Raptors boxes.
Here is an article from a month ago about how Barnes loves working hard on defense and has a passion for the game:

If we take him, I'm going to have to hope he figures out how to shoot.
I remember falling in love with MKG and wanting him in that 2012 draft (the year we got Ross). So I have developed a bias against guys who can't shoot because of him. But I really wouldn't be surprised at all if we picked Barnes over Suggs (assuming both are there at 4).

You gotta remember his dad was the coach and they tried to show case the older brother. He lacked good teammates to pass to. His defensive positioning was second to maybe AD. Not saying he is AD offensively but yeah.
The weight will come. Again I am not saying he will be AD I am saying he is a taller Bosh. He doesn't have very far to improve. He can pass already in a way that would be similar to Gasol so his play making right now are his offensive super power. If he becomes a decent shooter and he is already a better shooter than Barnes. He will be VERY good.
Weight with our training staff is something that I wouldn't worry about.
I hear you on Green. Suggs will be there though more than likely if we want. I just think without even improving and taking away lowry from this team whether you project out one year or 5 years Mobley or Green are the better prospects with Mobley having the potential to be WAAAY better. My only concern is I don't think he can be a #1 scoring option but I don't think you need him to be with the play making already there. I think you can find a substitute for that even by looking at guys like GTJ next year to fill that role.
He fits a need and he would be the BPA.
Rebounding wise he wasn't shaq but he rebounded up there with the best of them.
Mobley's understanding of the game ALREADY is what makes his upside nutty because its really just getting the physical tools ... and by that I don't mean height or reach.. I mean weight which you can definitely do. Not to the extent of Wiseman but again he isn't wiseman

Suggs is the correct choice if you can't get any of the other 2 guys not named cade.

keep warming on mobley. Barnes is cool he is a guy that you get when you need a leader attitude wise. Draymond wise. He doesn't really fit what we need. I think the shooting problems is too much of a problem and not overblown. Kuminga is one guy that I'd consider becuase hte upside is bigger. I think if we were at or 7 I would say Barnes hands down.

We have history to tell us what our front office loves:
- They love guys that work hard.. and have something to prove
- They love guys that are defensive minded first and foremost over anything else
- They love length.
- They seem to love guys that grew up under difficult circumstances (like losing a parent)
- They go against the grain to get the guy they want (ie, mock drafts are laughed at).
- They like local guys (ie, Canadian talent) if they can get one
- They don't really care if a guy is missing a skill, because they believe in their development program
- They don't care about age.
- They don't care if the guy played overseas, or in a subpar conference. They scout everywhere.
- They pick BPA and don't care about stacking positions. Like picking Poeltl when we had JV.
- They like guys that can help right away even in spot up minutes (hence the age thing).
I think if I was guessing as to who Masai picked, ignoring mocks, I would go in order:
1. Mobley
2. Barnes
3. Suggs
4. Cade
With Green being much lower on their big board.
Kuminga only fits the "bet on himself" checkbox.. or "was a BWB player" checkbox.. but I don't think the latter really matters that much. Otherwise it wouldn't explain guys like Flynn, Harris, Norm, Fred, Davis, Thomas, etc. The BWB thing gets a bit overblown because of Pascal and Bruno I think.
Outside of Bruno, they really don't care for guys that they have to develop from scratch and that's a mark against Kuminga. He needs a lot of time in the G-league / development system to get on to an NBA floor IMO.
I'm praying for Suggs.. but have this big dreaded feeling that it will be Barnes. Hope my gut is wrong about this.

I only read what's on here and he does seem like a Raps guy (as does Suggs) but this team is in serious need of firepower and picking a guy who maybe can't shoot and had more single digit scoring games than not in college does not fill any need this team has in the near future. I only saw him play once again MIchigan(?) and he wasn't very impressive - didn't look like he could score at all.

Honestly, the graveyard of NBA draft picks is littered with uber-athletes who can't shoot or lack a robust skill set.

Chad Ford has the Raps picking Barnes ahead of Suggs who he has going to Orlando in his latest mock. This doesn't mean much, but he has a lot of insider sources and that's what his tea leaves are telling him.
Thinking positively: Nobody knows what the Raps are going to do, let alone Chad fricken Ford.
Thinking negatively: I think Barnes will be a bust. We need a scorer, not another one dimensional defender who struggles to shoot or create for themselves.
Waiting a day or two post draft: Masai did it again

The team going off board late in the first round (and not even consistently there, OG was very much projected higher and slipped) is not a predictor of them going off board early in the draft. Poeltl was consensus #9 across the majority of mocks and they stuck hard to that script.
I really think everyone is overthinking this. Masai will take whichever of the top 4 is left over, and the only one I would think he might not want is Green, and if Green is there and he doesn't want to just take him (which is more likely IMO) I'd bet he trades back rather than reach.
