you take green over barnes 10 times out 10 and it's not even close.

Larry hughes had a much better nba career than barnes is gonna have, and i expect green to be quite a bit better than hughes.

Barnes is like ben simmons but worse at everything. Not nearly as good of a scorer (which should emphasize just how bad barnes is offensively), not good at all at rebounding (simmons is a good rebounder barnes sucks at it), not as good of a passer, and worse on defense. I for the life of me do not get the infatuation with barnes. He will be a defensive specialist journeyman in my opinion.

yeah we aren't getting dame and we definnitely aren't getting dame without gutting our core and thus it doesn't leave us much better than they are right now.

Happy that he is getting paid but those super max contracts are really crippling unless you literally have lebron. There is actually a reason why lebron hasn't ever signed a super max.... its a bad deal. it ruins your ability to create a roster. If you do sign a guy to the super max you better be DAMN sure that that guy is a mutli time MVP. I think Dame is close but not quite there and ideally you can get that guy without gutting your roster. or you are just starting to build a roster in a rebuild and its the right timing and you push all your chips to the middle. He is a good guy to try to trade for but I wouldn't try to trade for him.

If Portland wants to stay good, getting a guy like Pascal or Fred is likely one of the best outcomes of a Dame trade.

Trading Dame for GSW's package only makes sense if POR wants to lose for a while.

Pretty sure Sengun isn't any shorter than Sabonis (who is obviously a lot shorter than JV) - they're both 6'10. Sengun has pretty spectacular footwork and hip mobility. Defense...not so much.

The thing about Sengun is that he's clearly got good BBIQ and he's not slow on defense, so it's just a matter of learning to play defense. I don't think he's going to be a dominant rim protector or anything, but if he can become not-a-negative on defense or even slightly above average, he'll be a strong net-positive whenever he's on court.

I'm saying that's at least something the Raptors would consider. Gives them a real reset and a real reason to bail on a borderline all-NBA guy in his prime. Moving up two spots is the sort of thing that usually costs a protected future 1st or something.

Yeah trades like that don't happen often without giving up your own pick. Siakam is an All-star and a good player, but teams would put their faith in the 2nd pick becoming a better player than Pascal.

I dont want to see Siakam traded, I think you guys are consistently undervaluing his defense. Maybe he hasn't developed into the true superstar in terms of scoring, but he's not just all about offense. There is still room to improve as well.

Didn't recognize the picture, but recognized the name when I figured out who it was.

A "20-20 hindsight" review of that draft class would be interesting - would some of the players drafted that year done better/worse in their careers had they been drafted by other teams - likewise, would the fortunes of franchises (including one very notable franchise) turned if they had drafted the same players in a different order?
