You also have to take into account the evaluators and the developing system. I think we are top notch in both of those areas, so odds are better that we make a better educated decision, and then have the system to develop that talent.

The Raptors will either get the 15th pick (make the playoffs barely), or some pick between 7-9 (miss the playoffs, and fail in the play-in round). 11th in the East probably means 7th pick since the bad West teams (other than Minny/Houston/OKC) are going to end up worse than the Raptors, and even OKC is winning games at a better pace than the Raptors are.

It's gravy either way in my opinion.

I don't think this draft is as great as people are saying. The top two right now Cunningham and Mobley don't look like all-star talents to me. But it really depends on their development (ie, usage) and team they are on (who they get to play with).

Tolzman will get a pretty good pick either way.

If we were in the same class, then Davis and Thomas should have been our Nunn and Robinson. Or, the talent evaluation was bad to begin with. Same with Bembry, Stanley, Yuta, Dewan, Miller, McCaw, & Brissett, who are borderline unplayable for stretches or out of the league.

When you are dealing with undrafted players, late 2nd rounders and/or underachieving players from other teams (Stanley) that truly is a crapshoot and almost a tryout. We have/had Norm and Fred those are wins. Then we turned undrafted players TD and Matt Thomas into 2nd rounders (assets)

Matt doesn't have the speed to get himself open, they recognized that and got an asset out of it.

I think TD was turning into a problem, with the covid protocols in the bubble and then the lawsuit, they chose to cut ties and got an asset out of it.

Go look at the Heat's drafting history, ya they have Nunn and Robinson, but they have had just as many misses as any other team.

Good. Solid Big men can be had on MLE-sized contracts these days.

Sure, add late 1st rounders like Delon and OG to that list. But those guys all cracked the lineup under Casey. Hence, my qualifier.... anymore. I would give Nurse half a win for Boucher's development, but a lot what Boucher does is based mainly on his freak athletic gifts and heart. Boucher is still pretty unreliable on defense other than the blocks, which again, are related to his speed and length.
