defensively will always be JV's issue.

He also requires the ball to be effective .. doesn't pass at a high enough efficiency rate ... not the kind of center that would optimize what we have and you can scheme him out of a game by targeting him in a playoff setting. I LIKE JV ALOT.

Interesting article, makes some good points. Considering our center issues last year, good old JV would be a massive upgrade. I also liked watching him play and his nightly effort.

I’ve been watching some film on some second rounders:

Boston, Duarte and Todd most likely will be gone before we pick but would be worth packaging our picks to more up
for. Duarte will probably go in the first round.


So far I’m liking Bassey (who might be gone before we pick), Wieskamp, and Aaron Henry. Aaron Wiggins looks pretty good as well and I know we worked him out.

I still would like them to take a flyer on Badji. I watched some tape on Bleijenbergh, he could be a good draft and stash prospect.

I feel like there are way more quality guards in the second round and we are so thin in the front court.

Isaiah Todd, would be great for this team, position on need, good length, raw but was pretty impressive in the G-League this year. I think him or Bassey would be my targets to move up.

The defensive issues have always been overblown, and he's improved quite a bit over the past few years on top of that.

Having a hard time believing OKC would offer Shai, that kid is the real deal. Look at the numbers he put up last season and that efficiency...guards don't normally score with that kind of efficiency and it was just his 3rd season at that.

Want to take a wild guess who had the team's lowest on-court DRTG in that championship season when Nurse first implemented his crazy defensive scheme, up to the point when JV was traded?

Want to take a wild guess how much better Marc Gasol's on-court DRTG was after the trade?

I imagine you got the first one right (JV, 102.5 DRTG).

Same height and similar build as Shai, and also an aggressive, crafty shot creator from all areas of the court including midrange. Pair these 2 with Dort and that team starts to look really good.
