IĆ¢ā¬ā¢ve been watching some film on some second rounders:
Boston, Duarte and Todd most likely will be gone before we pick but would be worth packaging our picks to more up
for. Duarte will probably go in the first round.
So far IĆ¢ā¬ā¢m liking Bassey (who might be gone before we pick), Wieskamp, and Aaron Henry. Aaron Wiggins looks pretty good as well and I know we worked him out.
I still would like them to take a flyer on Badji. I watched some tape on Bleijenbergh, he could be a good draft and stash prospect.
I feel like there are way more quality guards in the second round and we are so thin in the front court.

Requires the ball to be effective? Did you not see the entirety of his Raptors career where he had the ball far less than he could have and yet was one of the primary win drivers?
The defensive issues have always been overblown, and he's improved quite a bit over the past few years on top of that.
Ah, remember when JV was schemed out of the game in the playoffs? No? He was one of our best playoff performers? Oh, right.

I'd swap #4 for Shai easily. I love Suggs but Shai is the real deal.

Having a hard time believing OKC would offer Shai, that kid is the real deal. Look at the numbers he put up last season and that efficiency...guards don't normally score with that kind of efficiency and it was just his 3rd season at that.
We are all pining for a shot-creator. SGA is already one of the best in the business.

From the Article:
Valanciunas does greatly struggle to defend in space, and he allows an unfortunate amount of open shots at the top of the paint and mid-range specifically as a result.
In order to mitigate ValaciunasĆ¢ā¬ā¢ overall lack of lateral mobility, the Grizzlies (like many other teams in the Association) deploy drop coverage,
The article did make some good points about rebounding and his impact but then went on to say this:
Now, is Valanciunas the best defender in the world? No, heĆ¢ā¬ā¢s not. His lack of lateral mobility generally restricts the Grizzlies to a single scheme defensively and can make them predictable.
He will always struggle defensively too. Our scheme works because we play such an insane scheme that requires everyone to be synced. up

87.2% unassisted FGM. That is insane. And it's not like he plays with another superstar to take the focus off him.

he would be a massive up grade but I stand by what I said.
From the Article:
He is one of the best rebounders in the league and our rebounding hasn't been the same since he left but I also think offensively while he is a bucket getter you need to slow your offense down to allow him to score.

Want to take a wild guess how much better Marc Gasol's on-court DRTG was after the trade?
I imagine you got the first one right (JV, 102.5 DRTG).
Gasol posted a 102.4 DRTG after the trade (0.1 points better than JV).

OKC picked Shai at 11th and that turned out to be an outsanting pick for them. They know the recipe now, and are angling to go for Bouknight with their 6th this year. Same height and similar build as Shai, and also an aggressive, crafty shot creator from all areas of the court including midrange. Pair these 2 with Dort and that team starts to look really good.
