Regarding trading up or down

In my opinion what it tells me is that they are wanting to see what happens at the draft but are really going to try hard to obviously move up if at all possible. It tells me they probably like Suggs but not as much as some of the other top 4 who they see as having longer term upside. I think it tells me thats what they value is the ceiling factor over the floor. Again we are talking about multiple championships so even if it means we are slightly worse initially long term they want the best prospect. They also don't want to drop down because they have assess some sort of gap.

I guess he fits their desire to win now, and fits next to both to Steph or Klay in any given lineup but otherwise how does that make sense - i.e. they'd be trading up for a 6th man.

My opinion has not changed at all. He's #4 on my board.

So yes i'm good with him. It helps that he's not a traditional C. He can handle the ball, shoot, pass. He's different.

Sixers for example may do a trade with the Raptors for Simmons if the Raptors can obtain an extra FRP

So, why does Suggs not have the upside of the other guys? Because he doesn't have a freaky wingspan?

You have a solid player, that does everything well (shooting could be better), that is young and can improve. He's athletic and has good size for a PG. He has a good motor, isn't scared of contact and seems hungry to be a great player.

So because he isn't raw enough, his ceiling isn't as high???

I think you provided a pretty good description of why Suggs may come off as not having the upside of other guys in the top 4 or top 6/7 (depending on who you like).

He "does everything well", but doesn't show signs of being elite at anything (yet). Cade has the everything in the bag, Mobley could be a defensive anchor, Green looks like a future scoring leader etc.

When you think of the elite PG's or SG's (not sure which Suggs will be in the NBA) they are either lights out shooters/scorers or great distributors like CP3. When you think of all around good players you think of Malcolm Brogdon.

Fortunately, if Raps draft him you can rest assured that they believe he can excel and their evaluation of the player is all the comfort I need.

My prediction

My feeling Raptors trading down to get Shai + 6th and 16 from OKC for No. 4

Then they flip that asset on a S/T Lowry with no.6 or Van Vleet/ Boucher with no.6 for Simmons

Raps will end up:
Shai, Simmons and 16th

I can't imagine OKC giving up both 6 and Shai for 4. They want to trade him but that's very little value in return, never mind also including the 16.

But a straight trade of 4 for Shai would already be a big win for the Raps. They would be hoping the guy they pick at 4 develops into what Shai already is.

Maybe this is different if Mobley slips, but for Suggs or Green I'm not hesitating to make a Shai trade.
