I did not say Barnes reminds me of Bargnani, I said the pick reminds me of Bargnani. We put tons of hope on it, and then It did not work out. I believe you must draft the best available players. It has proved it right in most of the cases.

I'm pretty sure the Raps front office did exactly that. Picked the guy they think was the best available player.

Pretty sure we both saw it the same way. You don't trade back if you can still get your man ... you just take him. You try to trade up if you see an opportunity (they likely tried for Mobley but weren't able to come to a deal that made sense).


Both of us weren't that big on suggs ... not saying we were down on him but if you go back through the conversations we both seemed to suggest he was a SAFE pick.

Easier to develop a shot... harder to develop defence.

Suggs has great defense. He's just not 6'9 with a freaky wingspan.

Yeah best defender in draft is Mobley (DPOY potential). Suggs is a great defender at his position. Cade is great positional defender. But Barnes is a versatile defender.

yeah let me rephrase that. Barnes is better defensively. Suggs was good and is good defensively but he isn't guarding 1-5...or 1-4. I think he will be guarding 1s and 2s. I think he will ultimately struggle against bigger 2's because he has the defensive principals but he doesn't have a norm powell level wing span. Norm powell who was an average defender to above average ... had a 6'11 wing span yet he was 6'3. It helps when getting into contact in the lane and brushing off guys arms or guarding the ball in the dribble. It also helps with defence obviously.

Suggs is not a bad guy and will do well. For the first two years everyone will say the guy is better.
