If we can manage a one year retool / rebuild and be relevant again next year, that will be a huge accomplishment. A quality piece in both the draft and the offseason could really help. Trent was a great get.

Absolutely. We have an excellent core but are missing a scoring threat and a solid big. Trade Boucher and our FRP to move up in the draft to nab Green (scoring threat) use cap space to bring in Holmes or a competent C. Baynes moves to the bench as a back up, use the two SRP for depth behind OG and Siakam. Or you move the pick in a package for an established scoring threat.
Barnes has been slipping lower in the rankings, so if he is the consolation prize of picking 8,9,10... then based off what I've seen of him, that could be okay. But I'd love to be in that 5 slot instead of 8.

Well you never know. Minny for example have to get win now players around KAT and DLo. Trading down allows them to do that and still get a top 10 pick. Of course there could be better offers but it's one option for them.
GS is probably under the same pressure to win next season. Wiz, who knows what they will do but if they keep Beal and Westbrook together then they'll want to add to the roster.

You can see that if we hadn't been whacked by the covid (and other injuries) we likely would have found our stride as a deep and athletic team, putting Baynes and the 2-PG lineup aside of course.
FVV
GTJ
OG
PS
CB
That's a playoff-calibre unit, to be sure. Elite shooting. 2-way. Etc.
Time to get these guys rested up for the offseason!

Really liking the idea of getting one of the two consolation prizes (ie non top-5) in this draft - Barnes or Jalen Johnson. We don't really need either one of them but they look like the best prospects available - size, athleticism, skill-package - and not drafting based on need is how you can really level up in the long term. Both would come off the bench for us as rookies and if we can get back to being a very good team, that's a perfectly fine place for them to start.
If all else (i.e. the tank) fails, then we can go for need AND potentially best player available with someone like Sengun. But where we're sitting Barnes and Johnson are great swing-for-the-fences picks.
