planetmars wrote: View PostHarris may be better than Green anyway. Green is much younger (19 compared to 22), but just from G-league stats, it's pretty close.
Harris (7 games) - 17.6ppg, 4.1rpg, 2.3apg, 1.1spg, 50% 3pt%, 46.2 fg%, 61.7 TS%, 9.1 Net Rating, 22.5% Usage, 120.4 ORtng
Green (15 games) - 17.9ppg, 4.1rpg, 2.8apg, 1.5spg, 36.5% 3pt%, 46.1 fg%, 61.3% TS%, -7.7 Net Rating, 22.9% Usage, 101.7 ORtng.
I mean Green is younger, and maybe played on a worse team (although Harris had to play with Ellenson lol). Should we take a chance on a top 4 pick on a guy that we already have on the roster, although a bit older? That -7.7 Net Rating is ugly though.
Harris scored 31ppg efficiently against a Dallas team that was trying to win last night. That's not a fluke.

I’m counting 2 or 3 point guards and 2 shooting guards. And we’re just as deep at small forward. We’re a deep team, or will be, and this pick is going to add to that depth regardless of position.Last edited by LJ2; Sat May 15, 2021, 05:15 PM.

Yeah but this isn't that. Why not trade Norm for a draft pick then? It's terrible asset management if they traded Norm for expiring players that have no future with the team. If it was to help the tank, we could have just gotten Hood and nothing else. Trent's salary was minimal.. he wasn't needed to make the trade work.
I think Trent is staying. It's pretty much a done deal IMO. Even if they take Green. The bigger question is Lowry's future with the team. If they take Green and Lowry stays.. Green wont' get much playing time on the big club.
I think the Raps hedge on fit over BPA. That's my take for the day. If they pick at #2 and Cade is taken, they'll take Mobley. If Cade and Mobley are off the board and they are picking at #3, I think they take Kuminga. If they are in the 7-10 range.. I think they take someone like Barnes (if he drops), Moody or Sengun.

Unless we are willing to trade Fred, what is the game plan for another guard if we draft one?
Fred, Trent Jr, Flynn, Harris and maybe Lowry are taking up the 1 or 2 slots. We could move Trent to the 3 in some line ups, but he's really a 2. If we bring in a Jalen Suggs, Jalen Green or a Keon Johnson (or a guy like Bouknight) who would probably all struggle at the 3, do we bypass them and go for the wing or big instead? Like a Cunningham, Kuminga, Mobley, Barnes, Johnson, Moody type of player?
I don't think this organization trades Fred, at least not this summer. Kyle could be back.. sort of a 50/50 and dependent on him more than the team. Not trading him at the deadline might make it more likely he's back but will still go with 50/50. And we'd want to continue to develop Harris and Flynn. And Trent was our big free agent get but at the deadline.
Keon is 6'5 so might be able to play at the 3, but that would be like slotting Norm at the 3 when he was really best as a 2. Positions are blurred in the NBA, but I hate playing with an undersized back court and we'd have one both on and off the bench going forward if we picked him.
If we're picking #2, and Cade is off the board, things will get really interesting.

What exactly do you think we already have on the roster after one standout game? I love your excitement over the kid by the way.
He's 22 (same age as Trent, 1 less than OG).. so that's why he was picked so late in the draft. But we also got Terrence Davis similarly. Now if TD built on his rookie season into this year, would anyone have wanted Trent at the deadline? TD was looked at as the future before he bobbled his career away.
Harris is our TD replacement.
Comparing Harris to Green though (and they both played in the G-league, although Harris with 7 games compared to 15), I see Harris as a slightly better player. And I'm just using box score, not their actual footage. Through highlight reels, Green looks like he's really athletic (like future dunk champion). But if they are producing the same, although 3 years apart.. is it worth getting a very similar player in the draft when you have a top 4 pick?
3 years in age can be a big difference.. but it might not make one. And if we have a similar guy now, why get a second player like him?

Glad to see other people like Jaden Springer as well. If Raptors don't make it to Top 5 I'll be comfortable with thatOnly one thing matters: We The Champs.

Not sure about future all star but I really like Harris. He can do a lot of things offensively that Trent can't do. He's got great handles and he can create his own shot. Trent to me is a lot like JR Smith/T-Ross. He's a long range bomber, those type of players usually ends up as a 6th man.
Anyways, i'd like to add one more thing about Giddey. He's not a Raptor type of player. Look at the Raptors young players/core players. They're all 2 way guys. One of the big knock on Giddey besides his athleticism is his defense.Mamba Mentality

FVV’s impact (good and bad) on player development, style of play and roster construction is a conversation that needs to be had. He’s best suited as a backup, combo guard, 6th man type of role, but he’s a starter who is limited as either a PG or SG and doesn’t necessarily elevate other players, especially bench guys, like Lowry used to.

Seriously what do you have against this guy? You come up the most random negative comments about him like he smashed your girl or something LOL.
Fred is either a very undersized SG or a PG that doesn’t get his teammates easy baskets. But he’s taking up 40 minutes a night. And we’re talking about not drafting certain players because people want to have a normal sized backcourt going forward. It’s a relevant conversation to have, re: Fred’s minutes and best suited role.Last edited by golden; Sat May 15, 2021, 09:25 PM.
