The mocks don't take into account team needs until after the lottery. They are quite literally just ranking the players 1-60 right now. Espn doesn't even call it a mock, it's the big board with players ranked. Cade is unanimously considered the best player in the draft by everyone.

Ayton, just like Cade, was always listed at #1 before the lotto and after. Cade will be the same.

Okay sure.. I'll take your word for it. I just know that right now some mocks are trying to pencil in guys to where they think they will be taken. Hence why Mitchell is going #7 since the Raptors are there (right now).

But either way.. the Raps could still take Mobley over Cade even if Cade is projected to go #1. He fits the Raptors draft profile better than Cade does. Let's hope they get the #1 pick so we can find out what they'll do with it

a lot of mocks have us drafting Jalen Johnson too. Everybody has a bias. They think Raptors can develop him so I think you gotta take mocks with grain of salt

The one knock against Mobley is that he was a freshman (1 and done). Raptors generally take older guys.. Every Masai Raptor pick (other than Bruno), including those undrafted kids played at least 2 years in school.

The reason we mostly have drafted older players under Masai is because most of our picks have been late-round picks, and the true blue-chip freshmen, the ones the NBA at large generally agree should be one-and-done players, go in the lottery. After the lottery, any freshmen who get drafted are usually the guys teams are less sure about. Our one lottery pick so far under Masai was Jakob, and he was only a sophomore and he was part of a draft class where a lot of the consensus first-round picks weren't freshmen (Kris Dunn, Buddy Hield, Taurean Prince, Denzel Valentine, Wade Baldwin, Caris Levert, DeAndre Bembry, and of course Pascal).

I been thinking about this draft and josh hidden or Scottie Barnes. I like big point guards we need a shooting guard but I don’t see anything in this draft that’s a game changer.

If we're in the 7-9 range.. do we take a freshman or do we go with a more older player like Wagner (sophomore), Kispert (senior), Mitchell (junior) or Bouknight (sophomore)? I would be totally fine with a freshman (my favourite outside the top 4 is still Moody). But Masai/Tolzman might prefer the more seasoned player.. even in the 7-9 range.

Just trying to guess as to what our front office will do. It's easier said than done. It's better to try and guess what they will do than to pick a favourite, because it doesn't really matter what I like. It's more important what Masai and Bobby and Danny like. And I'm thinking they take a guy like Mobley at the top, and Wagner if not. Just based on how they've drafted historically.

I hope I'm wrong about Mobley though. I don't really want him lol. And would probably be outright pissed off if they took him over Cade.

I'm not saying I want Mobley. Not at all. I'm saying that Masai and co might take him over Cade. He looks like a Masai player. Outside of being a freshman he seems to check off all the boxes that Masai likes. Top defensive player. Really good advanced stats. Long frame. Good IQ. Seems like a good kid. And he's from California! We love kids from there for some reason

I really don't understand why you feel this. Cade fits in PERFECTLY with this team. The only thing it messes up is this. We would have to trade Harris at some point or potentially Gary Trent. Not right away.


Other than that why would you not. That is something you could likely do during the draft in the case of Harris. Personally, I am not as high on Harris as everyone else because I have literally only seen him a few times and not enough times to make a real judge on.


Cade can play 3 positions if necessary. He can back up for OG, play point or shooting guard. Mobley is good... VERY good. But Cade is a TINY bit better.

Both slot in perfectly. Mobley is likely the better prospect for us long term if you project out 3 years. Cade is still going to be good but likely not as good as Mobley CAN be.


If Mobley puts on the pounds he has the mobility, the handle ... etc to really be something special. He also needs to work on that 3 point shot but just enough to keep defences honest. I don't expect him to lead the team in that.

You don't have to convince me on Cade. He's the guy I want.

I think Mobley is overrated personally. He's basically a younger Boucher. Has better defensive instincts maybe.. but he's undersized. Can't shoot very well (maybe he can develop that though). He's a PF in a C body so won't really help against guys like Embiid or Giannis. Two guys we have to defend in the East. Also center's are probably now the easiest position to find (I get the irony since we don't have one). They are underpaid compared to other positions in the NBA. You can find a Mobley in free agency typically or via trade.

Cade is great.. but he had a sub .170 WS/40. This may not mean anything.. but we love high WS/40 players. And if you look historically guys that are sub .170/WS in college don't tend to become all-nba. It can happen though. DeMar was an all-nba talent. Russell Westbrook was an MVP.

WS/40 essentially shows how much you helped your team win. And if you are a sure fire #1 pick, but had a weak WS rating, it's a little bit of a red flag. Plus he had more turnovers than assists. That's poor IQ.

Maybe our front office doesn't care, and I hope they don't. I want Cade at #1 for sure.. but would rather have Suggs or Green at #2 or #3 before Mobley. But I'd take Mobley with the 4th overall pick if he was still there.

Chances are there aren't any players with superstar potential in the 7-9 range where our pick is most likely to end up. I like the idea of picking up a playmaking forward like Giddey, Barnes or even Jalen Johnson. Raps could have a line up of FVV, Trent, OG, playmaking forward and Siakam to close games out.

Barnes would need to put in work on his shot, Giddey would need to put in work on the defensive end. Jalen Johnson is a big question mark because there just isn't enough footage on him but he's another 6'9" forward I believe and he might be the right mix of offense and defense.

This “loaded” draft feels a lot like the ultra stacked Wiggins-Jabari Parker draft year. I hope we don’t end up with Nick Stauskas. Lol.

After the lottery(whenever that is) you're going to hear Jalen Green's name more as the potential #1 overall pick. This draft is not the Zion draft where there was a consensus #1.
