Too late for that now.
But if the plan was to finish in 2-3rd with Lowry and get bounced in the 2nd or 3rd round, that's not happening.
Are they considering moving Lowry and finishing 7-8th and get bounced in the 1st or 2nd round but stockpile more youth or picks for the future?

Getting 8th or 7th in East would get us the 15th or 16th pick (West is better). That's where Kawhi/Giannis/Bam got picked. Not saying that will happen again but let's not get too upset about missing out on a top 4 / 5 player. Not everyone in a top 5 becomes elite. People slip, and we have Tolzman and he's one of the best scouts in the business.
There is a chance we slip even to 9 or 10 and miss the playoffs but the back half of the schedule is pretty soft.
Even if we get 4th.. where Boston is now.. they have the 19th pick. It's not ideal but okay.
I hope we don't trade our pick though. Maybe for a guy like Vucevic.. but even then I'd pass. We need good players on cheap contracts on our roster.. and right now they all suck. Davis might rebound next year, but he's been horrible in his second year (which is also a contract year).

If I had to guess they probably thought we'd be closer to what we are now that what we were at the start of the season. A middle of the pack team which is one superstar or a couple good but lesser players away from competing with anyone. Just to be clear by superstar I don't mean Beal.
Though it seems unlikely, we may still be buyers before the trade deadline.

A contender needs at least two,
and we don't even have one right now.

Who was the second superstar on our roster when the Raps won the championship?
Even if you add Kawhi to this current roster now, they will not come out of the East.

That Raptors team was the 2004 Pistons, an anomaly that happens once in a blue moon.

If Kawhi re-signed with the Raptors last year they would've won it again imo. And if they had Kawhi this year, i'd pick them to come out of the east.
The 2019 team was really good, obviously if the Warriors had KD, they probably would've won the series in 5-6 games. But KD's Warriors team probably was the best team ever assembled.Mamba Mentality

Fans gotta stop living even in the recent past. Signing a disgruntled elite and marching to the finals isn't happening again for 20 years when all the stars line up again for some team.

There were decent teams but no lebron/Davis, Kawhi/George, Durant/Harden/Irving, not any of them when we won the Chip. And the Jazz weren't even in the picture.

People also underrate how ridiculous the Embiid, Butler, Simmons team was or could have been if they spent more time together.

We also shouldn't presume to know what Masai's plan is to get us back to the top of the NBA. I agree with you that stocking up on assets and waiting for a disgruntled superstar to become available via trade isn't a reliable plan, but I also don't think that is what Masai is planning for.
