Can Mobley space the floor? Stats show he's a 30% shooter with 1.2 attempts a game. And a 69.4% FT shooter. Is he being overhyped or is he actually good offensively?

I'm really impressed with the argument that we shouldn't draft Mobley because he might turn out to only be another Chris Bosh, an all-NBA player and eleven-time All Star who was clearly ready to lead a team at the time he was forced into early retirement and was probably capable of leading a team before that. No, we need to be sure we draft someone better than Chris Bosh.
Guys, the theory that the only successful lottery draft is one where you draft a generational, game-changing talent is one where you lose ninety-nine times out of a hundred, because that's how many generational game-changing talents show up in the lottery!

I think we can build a squad who can realistically compete and win without having a "KD type of star".

His distance shooting is the weakest part of his game, but his form isn't incurably flawed like some bigs. He just needs practice and development, and right now he's already good enough that defenses can't sag off him when he's on the perimeter, which is really all you want out of a big anyway. He more than makes up for it with his interior scoring and driving ability in any event.
I mean he can learn to shoot.. Boucher figured it out. But it's not a guarantee. The sub 70% ft shooting doesn't help either.
I think he's being overhyped personally.

Other than Jrue, who did he have? Omer Asik? Ryan Anderson? Quincy Pondexter? Tyreke Evans? Eric Gordon when Gordon looked to be permanently washed before he managed to make a comeback in Houston? One year, yes, he had Boogie and Rondo on his team, and then Boogie got injured after a dozen games and Rondo was Rondo, meaning he was useless during the regular season.Mamba Mentality

And if you add Davis to a genuinely good team and organization, the hope is that you get something more like the Spurs did adding Duncan.
There's levels to this. Davis is a good player but Duncan is generational. Mobley to me is a poor man's Davis.

You pray that you can get a player of Bosh’s talent level. He was over shadowed by one of the greatest drafts in NBA history. Any other year he would’ve been a #1 pick.
Bosh was surrounded by brutal teams and poor roster construction. You put a prime Bosh on this team and we would be in the top 3. I think you guys are overlooking what we already have.

So, I’m three games in on Barnes (UNC, Georgia Tech, Florida). He has an NBA body, pretty smooth athlete with okay body control, great handles, and a decent defender. He can’t shoot, his passing wasn’t impressive, although he may bring the ball up, I wouldn't say he initiated the offence, for his height he should be a much better rebounder. I still don’t see the intrigue.
After watching Moody’s games, I like his overall game better. He can shoot, great form, defend and rebound very well. His passing is pretty good. The only thing I didn’t like is that he kinda faded into the background. He didn’t hunt for his shots and passed up opportunities that he should have taken. I think we need more players with intensity, and he just doesn’t seem to be cut from that cloth.

Holiday's a great player. Tyreke's a good player. Gordon's a good player. Anderson's a good player. Rondo, Cousins. So that's not good enough? that's a better supporting cast than Giannis had the last couple of years. That's definitely better than Luka's current supporting cast, hell that roster is better than Lowry and DeRozan's Raptors team and yet Davis Pelicans teams were a consistent 8th-9th seed. Why is that? and if Davis is so great then why are the Lakers so bad without LeBron?
As for the Lakers, their badness has much more to do with injuries than anything else. Davis has been injured the majority of this season, as was LeBron. When your two stars are injured on a two-star team, of course it's going to be a bad season.
