Mitchell is 60% FT shooter who histortically shot bad from 3 except this year. Plus he's older prospect. I would draft him in teens but not lottery

2. Suggs
3. Cade
4. Mobley
5. Kuminga
6. Keon
7. Moody
8. Mitchell
9. Barnes
10. Giddey
Nothing's really changed much other than 9 and 10. Barnes is now 9 and Giddey 10..
Keon, Moody, Barnes and Mitchell are all Raptors type of players. I still think one of them will be a Raptor by July or whenever the draft is. Mitchell is a hell of a player. I don't really understand the criticism. He's like a Marcus Smart who can shoot and create his own shot.
Definitely no to Wagner or Kispert. This is a deep draft guys. Both guys project to be role players/specialist. The Raptors are drafting in the top 8 not in the mid teens.

German born, and played for Michigan. His wingspan was 6'8 in 2017 but he was also listed at 6'5 then. So I could see him having a 7' wingspan by now as he's clearly around 6'9.
He has a bit of Duncan Robinson in him, but he can play defense. Some good moves in the post. Knows how to cut. The guy will never be a superstar in the NBA, but he should have a long career in the NBA if healthy.
Had a higher DBPM than Mobley last season too.

People seem largely concerned with Barnes' shooting and awkward iso game. But he was at least a confident enough shooter to be taking and making at the college level. If he projects as a 4 (and really he's a 3-4-5 like Draymond I think), does his shooting need to go up that much to be passable? Is it possible, like Pascal, he didn't get his proper offseason training during COVID as he might have liked? It looks like his 3-ball is headed in the right direction in terms of form, even if his FT rate has some warning signal to it.
I guess what I'm saying is that Barnes is more of a 4-5 than he is 3-4. And that's a safer combo I think for an NBA tweener - being able to bring the power and aggression needed to stay on the floor vs having your finesse-game dialed. Jalen Johnson is more of a 3-4 and that, in addition to the dedication and foritude issues, makes him the more questionable prospect than Scottie.

you are like me in the sense that you aren't feeling the specialist shooters or Giddey/Barnes.

If the Raptors were drafting in the mid 1st round or in the 20's then sure draft a specialist, a shooter or a shot blocker or whatever.

Are you saying he's a specialist? Mitchell's game resembles Donovan Mitchell's game. He's a combo guard that can shoot, can create his own + he's a lockdown defender.
Sure, you add him to a tiny-sized guard rotation of Fred, Kyle & Malachi... that's a roster construction issue, but not his problem specifically.

TrueTorontoFan wrote: View Postthe real issue is FVV is too good to not start... but isn't truly a PG... although he is developed more playmaking skills... Mitchell does have shooting concerns because clearly his FT% is bad as well as his FG% in previous years.
I also find a FT% of 60% to be a flag; not a deal breaker but for a college backcourt player that's already 22, that's low.

The only legit concerns with Mitchell are his age/upside and if his 3P shooting was a mirage. The idea that he's undersized for a PG doesn't make sense. He's 6'2", built like a brick and plays easily above the rim.

Because we're in the lottery, we're drafting in the top 8. You don't draft a specialist if you're in the lottery especially in a deep class like this.

1996 was one of the best classes of all time, and I believe it had 10 all-stars, but that included guys like Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Antoine Walker, Jermaine O'Neal and Ilgauskaus. I mean not really big difference makers here.
That's why I'm leaning for a good bet at #7 or #8.. and then get the kid with potential in the 40's. We have two shots in the second round as well.
Moody or Wagner are my guys, unless we're in the top 4 of course.
