It's a lot easier to find offensively challenged, defense-first guys (e.g. Stanley, Bembry, RHJ, MKG, ....) than to acquire natural bucket getters... which is what we really need. If we can't take a highly-skilled offensive talent, bring them into our system at an early age, and teach them how to play passable team defense; then you really have to question whether we have a strong culture or not.
I really hope we draft a legit offensive talent, and learn how to develop & incorporate that type of player into our team concept. I mean, Harden and Kyrie will never be confused with DPOY candidates, or even 2-way players, and they aren't hurting the Nets.

Worked for Steph and the Warriors.
We already have elite defenders in almost every position. An elite scorer with passable D would be fine.

lol. And that's my point. Let's not get all hung up on defense when we're talking about 19 year old prospects. If Nurse is THAT good, and our culture is THAT good, we should be able to coach that.
I never looked at luka and thought he would defensively be an issue. I kinda wanted us to trade demar for the suns pick honestly

Is he a guard or a winger? then yes. Keon, Moody and Mitchell are my top 3. But I wouldn't really care if they draft Giddey or Wagner or Bouknight.
The ONLY thing that would disappoint me is if they draft a C.
Of that group, I’d be looking for a a guy that has the potential to be special on offense. Bouknight and Giddey seem to have a chance, or they could end up being Gary Harris and a taller Ricky Rubio. I don’t mind taking a swing a high upside / high bust potential player.

but my point is people are acting like giddey might be luka level and I am saying no...

Giddey won’t be Luka, but he is intriguing, for sure. There’s always a place in the NBA for high IQ guys who can make plays. At the very least, he’s like Kyle Anderson, which is a very useful and unique type of glue guy.

In a position the Raptors are in (pick number 7) I'd rather take a chance on a guy that maybe will turn into a star but has got the tangibles (hard worker, high IQ athletic, solid 3 & D ) to be a glue guy if not.
