There's this weird idea (around here) that rookies (or certain types of rookies, e.g. big men) are incapable of contributing. This in spite of seeing rookies contributing every single season, often even on playoff rosters. What rookies can't usually do is play like grizzled veteran allstars. They might be able to play playoff calibre defense, or playoff calibre (consistently get their own shot) offense, but highly unlikely both.
Bosh was definitely contributing as a 19-year old rookie/ I haven't checked his Win Shares that year but I'd imagine his production wasn't vapid either. He just wasn't a grizzled veteran allstar yet.
It seems to me Suggs/Green/Mobley would step into the rotation straightaway (maybe even starting depending on the roster). Maybe they won't be impactful but that's another story and you shouldn't expect that from any rookie.

I'd think hard. I think Shai is really, really good.
Lu Dort is also 21 and better than OG was at 21. Not far behind him overall tbh. It gives us a 22 year old and 21 year old Canadians(!), one of them all defense on the wing the other a franchise point guard, slot FVV at the 2 and Pascal at the 4, and we're a lot closer to future rings than we are today.9 time first team all-RR, First Ballot Hall of Forum

Shai has bonafide franchise player potential. The draft picks does too, but less of a chance as of today. I think you do it any day and twice on Sundays.

This past season Shai suffered what his coach described as a "severe tear in his plantar fascia". That injury ended his season.
So how healthy is he? could that injury compromise him long term?
I say pass. Why take that kind of risk when you can just draft a player at 4 who has a chance to be an all star as well?Mamba Mentality

I'm also not trading #4 for Jamal Murray(not that he's available) and i'm a HUGE Murray fan. You just never know with these injuries. What if Murray injured that knee again? what if Shai injured his foot again?
The ONLY way I trade #4 is for players like Booker, Tatum, Luka etc...star players in their early/mid 20's who have NO major injury history.Mamba Mentality

Guys, if they are trading Shai (and they'd be insane to do so), it's because they think he's too old (which is nuts) and doesn't fit their rebuild timeline. In which case OG would also be the same thing. They would want picks and only picks.

In this hypothetical we're also giving them #4 who could be 2-3 years younger than Shai. They can flip OG for more picks too.

27.8% USG
118 ORTG
62.3% TS%
21.6 PER
Here's the kicker: only 7.4% of his 2PM shots were assisted. And only 29.6% of his 3PM were assisted. WTF? That's ridiculously great shot-creation, on par with Luka. That's exactly what we're saying this team needs right now, right? Shot creation.
SGA should have been an All-Star last season. Plus, he's a huge PG, who can switch on defense 1-3 and a bit of 4.
This trade idea is a lot more interesting than it looked at first.
