That isn't going to happen. Shai isn't going to pass up the near-max or actual max money he can get from OKC, because that would be incredibly stupid - he's not going to turn down a hundred million dollar contract. Nobody does.

I don't think it means anything for the Raps at 4, but I feel like Houston will pick Green at 2 so he can be their next James Harden. Cavs will take Mobley and Suggs to the Raps unless they do something whacky. In a perfect world Suggs would be getting some of those end of game possessions in the back half of the season. He has the talent and confidence to be the closer for us.

I've been looking at forums, workout schedules, etc and a couple interesting things seem to be popping up that could shake up the draft. It looks like Rockets fans really want Jalen Green. They feel that a back court of KPJ and Green would be super dynamic and would work better with their roster than Mobley with Wood in the frontcourt. I don't think that's a surprise for anyone here, just sort of interesting.
What surprised me, is that the only top 5 pick officially scheduled to workout is Kuminga. He's scheduled to workout for the Cavs. Apparently, he's already worked out for them, and they want a closer look. I've read Cavs fans supporting the idea of drafting Kuminga as well. I've also heard reports that there's little expectations that the top 4 picks will trade back.
So, if the Cavs ACTUALLY draft Kuminga at 3, and Green is picked second, what should the Raps do?

The bigger dilemma IMO would be what would happen if the Rockets took Mobley and the Cavs still took Kuminga. Who do we take if it's Green vs Suggs?
Me personally I have them ranked: 1. Suggs. 2. Green. 3. Mobley.
I'm yet to be convinced that Mobley will be a great player. I think he can be a good player, but he could just end up as a role playing big.
Between Suggs and Green, I take the guy who can both pass and play defense over the guy that's athletically gifted. But I love Green's potential to be a dominant scorer in the league like Bradley Beal is. So would be happy either way.

Use everything else (FVV/GTJ/Malachi/Boucher/Harris, etc...) + picks to get an elite shot-creating guard/wing, by trade or draft.

I'd take Suggs over Mobley. I don't buy the fit argument that Mobley fits better. Lowry is moving on, FVV is better as an undersized SG, and Suggs fits absolutely perfect next to him as a tall PG who is really good on defense. FVV guards the opposing teams PG and Suggs guards their SG.
I'd still be very happy with Mobley and chalk it up to Masai and Bobby being better at this than me.

Both Mobley and Suggs fit fine. If you get Mobley, you re-sign Lowry and the fit is fine: you have a great backcourt rotation (Kyle, Fred, Malachi, GTJ, Jalen), a good big rotation (Birch, Boucher, Mobley) and good forwards (Siakam, OG, Yuta) and maybe you aim for another forward. If you get Suggs, you most likely don't re-sign Lowry and you look for another big and forward in trade, draft or free agency - again, the fit is just fine.
We have good guard depth, good starting forwards, and good rotation bigs, and most of them play reasonably good positionless basketball at a medium. Fit honestly isn't an issue. Masai and Bobby should just take BPA or BDA (best deal available).
If the Cavs do draft Kuminga, the only question to me is if we can use that for leverage on Orlando, with their two lottery picks, to blackmail them into trading us 5 and 8 for 4, because I think getting the last one available of Mobley or Suggs PLUS #8 is straight up better than getting our pick of Mobley or Suggs - it lets us add whoever we think is best as one more piece who might become elite, regardless of whether that's Bouknight or Giddey or whoever.

Keon is a project pick with a lot of bust potential, like Kuminga, and my general feeling is that you want a draftee to have at least one elite skill - not athletic talent (which fades), but skill. The case for Giddey, for example, is that he's already a transcendent passer. The case for Barnes is excellent defense and strong passing. The case for Corey Kispert is elite shooting. These are guys who taught themselves how to use their physical tools to do something at an elite level, and if a player has done that the odds are good you can teach him to do more. All Keon's got so far is great hops.

Is Mobley genuinely a better player (present/future) than Suggs & Green or is he getting some extra points for being a big? I've really hardly watched him. But the NBA has a good and long history of overvaluing bigs in the draft."We're playing in a building." -- Kawhi Leonard

Here are some drafting rules
#1 don’t draft a point guard in the top 10 unless he is generational
#2 don’t draft a Center in the top 10 unless he is generational
# 3 dont draft a player in the top 10 that is undersize height, length wise at his position.
# 4 prioritize scoring - BB IQ - defence …
