Locking down Yuta for next season at a minimum salary - which is the point of this deal - is great.
Was really surprised how well rounded his skills are and how well he moves for his size. Looks like everything is there, just needs consistent production.

So often these fringe guys have clear holes in their game and you can see why they don't have a guaranteed deal or rotation minutes, like how Stanley can't dribble and McCaw can't shoot. Yuta can really do everything he needs to, just get out there and show it.

Isn’t it insane how much better is he than Landry Fields, or Lammond Murray, or Turk, or half the small forwards we’ve had over the years?

Having guys like this on minimum contracts, coming through the program, is how you get ahead. We should have some crazy long-but-mobile lineups out there with OG and the 2 and Yuta at the 3 next season.

        🍻

Landry Fields who can shoot is a great comparable for his upside, actually. Fields was really good aside from having an arm that wouldn't extend through a shooting motion, which it turns out is kind of important.

            Yeah...not ideal.

Still can't believe the Raptors chose to keep Watanabe over this dude.

And Brissett is doing it against starters. Our player development whiffed there, unfortunately.

Dan Tolzman sleeping at the wheel. We kept Watson over Brissett as well.

Brissett playing like young Siakam but Siakam is trying his best Rudy Gay impression. Sad

Watson's fine. The issue with him is he can't stay healthy. Yuta? my opinion about him has not changed whatsoever. He's NOT a rotation player.

That’s what happens when guys get paid max money. They start forcing the issue to justify it. Siakam clearly lacks the handles and overall craftiness of a prime-time ISO scorer, but that’s the role we have him in. Learning on the job, basically.

That’s more on Nurse. Brissett got cut because he couldn’t shoot 3s, which is almost a non-negotiable for a Nurse player. That was the main difference between him and Yuta, because Oshae is a great defender.

Crazy thing is now Brissett is hitting his 3s.

Meanwhile, Birch is averaging 11.5/7.5/2 + 1.3 blocks with the Raps. Sometimes it's a matter of opportunity and fit.

How was there no fit with the Raps with Brissett? We’ve lacked size, grit, rebounding & depth all year.
