I think OG is a transcendent defender who can anchor the best defence in the league given the right personnel surrounding him. Why would you move off of a guy who can do that while developing an off the dribble game on the other end? He's already a very good shooter as well.

The Great One wrote: View PostThe guy that I want to see them trade is Siakam. Anyone still want to argue with me that he's the 5th best player on the team? You know what I think of the guy. The guy has ZERO competitive fire in him. Guy was a complete non factor in ALL 7 games against the Celtics. Got suspended earlier in the season and came back and was a complete no show. Does this guy have any pride?
And oh, do we even have to talk about how he constantly disappears in the 4th/in the clutch?
As for this whole Nurse/Siakam thing. Siakam should be grateful that Nurse keeps giving the ball to him in a potential game winning shot scenario because if i'm coaching this team he'd be the 5th option. It's not Nurse's fault that Siakam keeps embarassing himself. Shooting a fallaway shot over RUDY GOBERT in the clutch when you're up 3? how dumb is this guy?
Dude's soft and I hope his attitudes won't rub off on OG.

For the same reasons I mentioned in my post. Raps have exhibited the ability to trade for and draft defensive players. Meaning OG can be more easily replaced with a reasonable facsimile. Where this organization has struggled is finding the Kawhi type of player that can score at the highest levels.

Rudy Bargnani wrote: View PostCould see a scenario where Masai adds Thybulle and Myles Turner in trades.
FVV/Thybulle/OG/Siakam/Turner are all potential contenders for 1st team all defence. Still need an alpha obviously but we will get there.

Demographic Shift wrote: View PostWaiting to see what happens between now and the trade deadline is like Christmas Eve this year.
Lots of anticipation to see what actually falls out .
Do we see an "Embrace The One Year Tank" strategy as we wave goodbye to the most successful edition the franchise has ever seen and likely a couple of the guys who made that happen. It was a great run. Time to retool and start the climb back.
or,
Out of left field Ujiri finds a cheap solution at the 5 and magically finds an impact wing player and lets the show play out.
Tick Tock.
Masai does nothing and we middling-suk .... I'm hoping option 1 is more likely

But my point is that OG isn't just another defender. I'm comparing his defence to a guy like Lillard's offence. You don't trade that just because you can. Of course you can. But his skill set is so broad and his impact so extreme that I just think you have to try and find value elsewhere because he pairs perfectly with an offensive option. I wouldn't be saying this about a guy like Thybulle or Marcus Smart. OG's defence is 1st team all-nba IMO and he's a top 3 defender in the league behind Simmons and... someone else maybe?

Honestly Riley vs Masai is some godfather level game of chicken, hilarious if they're really seeing who will blink over Herro.
But also remember so many major Masai moves were unexpected or underreported. Maybe there's too much noise around a possible Miami deal."We're playing in a building." -- Kawhi Leonard

I feel like the most likely scenario is that we will end up doing nothing, the team sneaks into the playoffs and loses in the first or second round. Lowry leaves for nothing in the off-season, we draft somebody no one has heard of, and we overpay Norm.

I get it though, not easy driving a Lambo when you're use to getting driven around
