Any chance this is just Cavs leaking false news to get other potential suitors to bid? I don't see the fit...you'd have to go back to the days of Biyombo for the last time Raps had a one dimensional, specialist type at C.
There have been many tweets saying it would be tough to match Drummond's salary without an overpay or how some teams showed interest, but no serious discussions.

I'd say its more likely Cavs are asking other teams to try and move him rather than teams wanting Drummond.

if the rest are trash, why would Cleveland take them?
U have add money, 2 move money out..u think Cleveland should get more, even Powell is 2 much, but u gotta look at the bigger picture, your gonna loose him in free agency anyway and u got add his contract 2 make up 28 million..We could always wait Cleveland buys him out, but than he can go anywhere..u realize this team has no center, this team need a center even though for short term, if it doesn't work out..than u free up that money for free agent or trade 2 get money in..it's win win..Powell ain't opt in, no way..his gonna get more than 20 million in open market..

Eh everyone likes that Masai quote last time Drummonds name was kicked around, but the JV for Drummond rumors were real, we have had a histroy with him.

I know everyone wants spacing but how many bigs actually get respected as shooters come playoffs and dont get played off the floor on defense. Even Ibaka and Gasol couldnt play against Boston. Need a rotation for matchups - part of that is an interior presense we are soarly lacking. Maybe not Drummond but have to find it

        • I'm a big Drummond fan and obviously he'd be MASSIVE upgrade over Baynes and Boucher. But really what's the point? finish 6th in the standings and get swept by the Nets or the Bucks in the 1st round? or finish 5th in the standings(best case scenario) and get swept by the Celtics in the 1st round?

It's time for this team to rebuild.

          • Marvin Bagley anyone? He’s a center and needs a change or to get out of Sacramento. He’s only $8 mill so salary matching is easier. He’s also only 21 years old.

I mean if Lowry is outgoing then I guess it makes a bit of sense because we would continue to be a third tier team in terms of contending. FVV would move to PG and we'd open up minutes for other guards. I'd be floored if we add Drummond and kept Lowry cause that would signal we are trying to compete with the second tier contenders like Boston and Miami.

Unless there is a third team involved, giving up Lowry for Drummond would be an overpay.

I think Drummond is young enough if the fit works out and you sign him long term you have something. Right now we are realistically 2 pieces away, one being a dynamic scorer and another being a center. If you get Drummond for Norm plus filler stuff, with maybe a 2nd you still have a lot of stuff to trade if a Beal type player becomes available.

Sure, but what's the price? Bagley will always be remembered as a guy who was picked ahead of Luka, so they're gonna want a King's ransom back. Or, they're just going to hold onto him like Raps did with Bargs and hope he eventually lives up to his potential. That said, yeah, he's a great target... had a great rookie season under Joerger and regressed badly under Walton. Could be as simple a good coaching and role to turn him around.

Drummond seems like he's been in the league forever, but he's only a year older than Fred and Pascal.... our "young" core. lol.

                      • If Lowry is going for Drummond that will be a sad trade and this team will take a massive nose-dive.

Just from a year ago we would be going from stellar/lethal pick roll with Lowry and Serge (both whom are great at it, with both being able to pop to the 3 and the mid-range, as well as heading to the rim) to non-shooting Drummond that will inefficiently try to do everything on his own, not capable of shooting from outside and clogging the paint for Siakam.

                        Drummond also a poor defender.

If Lowry goes it's gotta be for a prospect or pick with necessary filler for contract

If Lowry is going for most players this side of Beal, this team will take a massive nose-dive. Even Lowry for Beal straight up would be unlikely to lead to a massive improvement, and that's a pretty unlikely trade.

And if there really are discussions between Toronto and Cleveland for Drummond (and this isn't just being circulated to boost Drummond's trade value), and those conversations are built around Lowry-for-Drummond, I have to admit that I don't see where the fit is. Blake Griffin is also available, and feels like a far better fit with Pascal.

                          • The real problem in my opinion in this issue is its pure business trend. I mean people talk about trading Lowry and they do not know that this might be a very big psychological hole in our franchise for the short term.
The man who helped you to win a title and is still playing like a star gets traded ?
Do not blame Carter or T Mac then.

                            • Drummond is worth almost nothing. Last time he was traded it was for Brandon Knight and filler. Yeah.

They're not getting guys of Powell or Lowry's calibre and there's a pretty good chance he just gets bought out imho.

He's also 5% worse on FG at the rim than Baynes so that's pretty hilarious.

                              • A trade for Drummond just doesn’t make sense. With Pascal struggling from the perimeter having a guy clogging the paint is not a good fit.

Plus you lose a ton of depth in any trade for him.

The Cavs saw our roster deficiency and decided to use us to try to get more from another team
