I think Thybulle is totally a Masai guy too. People last year were saying he was best rookie defender they have ever seen.

So a realistic package in my view would be Philly gets Lowry, Raps get Drummond, Maxey and Thybulle. Cavs Danny Green Mike Scott.

Include some picks to balance it out. Maybe Cleveland gets 1-2 second round picks. Maybe Raps get Philly’s first.
To much weight on Kyle for a balanced trade.
Raps have to give up a pick for two of phillys best rostered prospects and cashing in on a need.
Think it would be our 2nd round pick going to Cleveland.
This I like ... so it must be too one sided in the raps favour.
There's no such thing as a 2nd round bust.

Well, the rumor is they wanted Gasol back more but I think it's more accurate to say they didn't want to give Serge term or wanted him off the bench again and he took it as an insult

Where does the idea come from that we let guys walk for nothing? Posters have actually used kawhi and green in these statements. Really, how does that even make sense? They were here for one season. Are we suggesting that we should have sacrificed the opportunity at a chip because this two were likely to walk in the offseason, after not even punching in a full regular season with the team, even though we were clearly a contender?

I can understand the gasol and ibaka examples, but i still dont agree. You dont trade those guys because they are on expirings. That team was monster pre bubble, imagine trading those two while sitting 2nd in the league overall? The backlash would have been crazy. Nobody makes decisions like that. I guess there is evidence they could have been resigned, and because they werent the idea is that we should have traded them to recoup assests, despite the fact that at the time a trade would have been executed the team was in 2ND PLACE OVERALL. Jesus, hindsight is 20/20 eh. What a bullshit way of making a weak ass point. Should be politicians some of you.
My fellow raptor brotha, I agree kawhi u couldn’t do anything about...green I would have let walk but as soon as they were gone. Gasol, ibaka, Lowry would have been traded. And to be fair maybe I am ruthless!

I wanted serge but We can find another ibaka. And we need a rim protector more than we need a passer from that position because Kyle and Fred are not true point guards.

I completely get it. Passing needs to be on the floor but it doesn’t have to come from your guards I get it. Drummond is not the answer even tho in Detroit he showed signs of being a good passer.

Well, that offseason after the chip would have been the time to do that, but damn that would be a hard sell I think.

            • We need a competent center. If we had a really good iso scorer, the need might not be so great, but here we are. We run a lot of pnr and baynes is just a nonthreat in every scenario. Hes a decent screen setter but otherwise doesnt help the ball handler create space or options with his movement. Boucher is great off the bench and he basically covers serge's production, and there is an easy argument hes the higher impact player. Maybe Serge brought leadership and chemistry and other intangibles to the team that Boucher doesnt, I dont know, but really they need to find a way to replace alot of what Gasol did.

Supposedly, we could have had PG and Kawhi if we were willing to give up Pascal and probably at least one of FVV and OG + salary ballast & a boatload of picks. In a vacuum, you do that deal in a heartbeat, but that would have been cold-blooded for Masai, especially after sacrificing DeMar.

Well that requires you to give up your future, something I don't see Masai doing. The Clippers gave up 5 first round draft picks if I recall, and they blew it against the Nuggets. They will be a good team, but its always possible they don't win a championship.

Always sounded like the behind the scenes stuff gave such a bad taste that I can't even be upset. I don't know much about Kawhi and his circle, but it really seems like you don't want to do business with them. Just as Jerry West. Even still, a mini dynasty would have been cool and definitely worth it as a fan, just can understand if Masai and go didn't want to tread in those waters.

What’s so great about Thybulle? He’s a sub-10% USG guy. You can find one-way defensive specialists like Bembry to do what he does.

yeah i think you have the framework right, where salary ballast is their preference between marc or serge and the boatload of picks means literally all of them, to trump what the clips gave up (shai, gallo, five firsts and two swaps).

i also think it's pretty likely that no matter how the next two years went they would have fled to LA anyway. and then we'd be proper fucked.

cold bloodedness or sentimentality aside, i think it would have been a pretty reckless trade.

Key word there is "supposedly". Two top 10 players, both in their primes could have been Raptors and Masai didn't pull the trigger? Seems hard to believe considering how difficult it is to get even one top 10 player to Canada. More likely to me is that both these guys whom happen to be LA natives wanted to go home.
